2011-2012 Rangers Line-Up

I'm just wondering how the Rangers line up is looking right now. I understand you still have to sign Dubinsky, Callahan and Boyle but obviously all will get re-upped. I didn't see a thread like this on your board and I'm interested for comparison purposes (Leafs/Bruins fan here).

I would like to see:

Fedotenko - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - Anisimov - Callahan
Hagelin - Stepan - Zuccarello
Rupp - Boyle - Prust
Avery, Christensen

Staal - Girardi
McDonagh - Sauer
Del Zotto - Erixon

Lundqvist
Biron

Well, the only thing that is really "set in stone" (as i see it) is really this :

First line :
x - Richards - Gaborik

First defensive pairing :
Staal - Girardi

And everything else is still a puzzle that needs to get put together depending on if there are more signings, etc.

Opening night I think you may see this (Barring any rookie explosions in camp)

Wolski-Richards-Gaborik
Dubinsky-Anisimov-Callahan
Avery-Stepan-Fedotenko
Rupp-Boyle-Prust

Staal-Girardi
McDonagh-Sauer
Erixon-????

Wild cards to make the team include Zuccarello, Del Zotto, Thomas, as well as just about any of our young defenseman in the open spot (McIlrath, Kundratek, Pashnin, Valentenko)

Zucca - Anisimov - Boyle
Avery - Rupp - Prust

Does anyone else not see Mccabe making it out of training camp?

Whoops totally forgot Mccabe was a free agent.

McCabe is UFA. Unlikely that he's even in camp.

I really like the look of this lineup, but I think both Zuccarello and Hagelin could find a spot on this roster. I have no clue where they would fit in though.

If a rookie forward (Or Zuccarello) makes it I believe it will be at the expense of Avery's starting spot in the lineup.

Of course this is discounting the possibility of an injury to our forward crew in camp.

Thing I like about my lineup, personally is that everyone fits into their respective roles. The only ones that might over/underperform are Stepan on the 3rd line (If he progresses) and Wolski on the 1st line (If he dissapoints, though I have a good feeling about it) Everyone else is about right where they belong in terms of ability and playing style.

We have a decent ranger lineup even barring any great rookie performances. If Hagelin, Zucc, or Thomas do pull off a great camp, then we'll simply have more good fitting options in case of injury.

I know Rupp plays some C, not sure if he can full time. I think this is our best F line up. AA and DStep could swap. BB-AA-Feds would be a he'll of a defensive/checking line that can also generate offense.

If Rupp can't handle C then BB would have to slot in on the 4th with Rupp and Prust.
Then maybe we see a Fedotenko-AA/DStep-MZA 3rd line.

Would like to see this...

Dubinsky-Richards-Gaborik
Wolski-Stepan-Callahan
Boyle-Anisimov-Fedotenko
Avery-Rupp-Prust

D pairings are covered in that thread.

Am I the only one with issues about having Feds on the top line?

I think, atm, it's Wolski's to lose. I know he hasn't done much here... but he's got the potential. I would have loved Jokinen there. Obviously Dubi would be great up there too... but that'd break up the Pack Line. Maybe try Dubi up top and Wolski/Feds with AA and Cally just to see how it works out.

Rupp-Boyle-Prust is interesting.

I really don't see zucca making this team unless it's on the top line Lw which hasn't really been discussed before but I could see that, I know the norweigen contingent on here won't like that but he's a defensive liability on the third line; unless he's lighting it up I just don't see it. I think MdZ will have a bounceback year and play as projected, I mean we've already seen his skills he just needs to get his **** together.

Wolski - Richards - Gaborik
Dubinsky - AA - Callahan

Rupp/Fedotenko - Boyle - Prust

Staal - Sauer
McD - Girardi
MDZ/Erixon/Eminger - Erixon/Tank

I personally feel Tank will be on the team next season and Eminger will be resigned. Tank seems to be reliable defensively and that is number 1 when it comes to DEFENSE. In all honesty though I have no idea whats up with that 3rd pair. Thats going to be the best battle in camp.

Rupp and Feds will rotate depending on the opponents IF Avery or Christ shows the ability to play on the 3rd line. If not, then feds will probably be on the 3rd line with Avery and Rupp, and perhaps Prust as well, rotating in and out on the 4th line.

I cringe every time Wojtek Wolski is penciled in as our #1 Left Winger.

I think he needs to earn his spot, just like anyone else. However, I excuse his somewhat variable past season with being new to the NA game, having a long season etc. I think he just might surprise a lot of people this year, but we will see. His powerskating is going to help him get quicker for sure, and I think come summercamp we will (hopefully) see a way sharper Mats.
But again, I do not want him to get anything handed to him, and I do not think Mats wants that either.

I also think people are writing off Zuccarello way too quickly.

EDIT: Actually reminds me a lot of how people were writing off Boyle last year.

Indeed. And I see people doing it again before this coming season. "I dont see Boyle scoring 20 ever again" seems to be the new tune. I guess for some people the glass will always be half empty

I surely don't see him getting handed anything, I just done think he fits in the bottom 6 but if he can play on the top line Lw it'd be great.

I agree with this. Makes sense to give BB more ice time. Think Rupp would be fine at 4th line C, is it that much of a difference to 4th line LW?

We will see. Season is still far away, and who knows what will happen before the puck drops. Knowing Torts he will pretty much play everyone with everyone in camp I am guessing, so who knows what the lines will be. Thats the reason I do not post predcitions hehe

I think Dubi should be top LW with BR and Gabs but Wolski is next in line...........Feds ,Avery are 3rd/4th line guys.........Boyle may get a sniff .............knowing Torts everyone may get a sniff though
