There is no chance the Caps and Jets are in the same division long term. Them being in the SE is a one year thing and is going to absolutely kill them with travel.

I find it hard to believe this was a pure cap dump. How is McPhee going to address the fact that they said they did not need to purge?

It's a lock they're doing something else.

Ranked 71 by RLR in 2008, where he's listed as Danick Hudson-Paquette, RW.

One-liner: Naturally abrasive cuss is like a burr under the saddle.

Listed as the #1 Little gnats who are very big pests to play against: Agitator extraordinaire. Industrial strength abrasive. Mean and does something borderline dirty on every shift.

An incredibly annoying pain in the ass to play against. Plays with lots of edge and is always borderline dirty. Loves the physical side of the game and has innate ability to get under opponent's skin. Not just a one dimensional player though - can also finish his share of chances, mostly by driving hard to the net. Really crashes the crease and always gets a piece of the goalie once he arrives. Good instinct for getting to the right spot offensively, but has zero creativity. Skating his major drawback for the pro game. Has heavy boots and poor first step, but in junior manages to get to loose pucks in the offensive end first because of his intense, high energy game. That will change at the next level. Defensive game is rough around the edges and he'll never scare d-men off the rush with his puckhandling.

Projection: 3rd line energy winger who chips in.
Style compares to: Daniel Carcillo/Chris Neil

*He was also listed in the Honorable Mentions catagory in BobbyMac's Top 60 of 2008.

(Yes, I'm a complete dork - I keep this stuff.)

So you see the local media raising a stink over this move? Really...?

Cool. We head into the season with a complete roster and $1M+ to play with.

I was thinking more $2.75-$3 million.

Are they clearing a path for Eakin on the 3rd line?

Seriously? We all know Poti's career is in jeopardy.

Alzner has not done enough to justify making more than what Schultz got coming off a ridiculous +/- season. He has 1 year of NHL experience. He's not going to get 3m. He doesn't deserve it, and I like him.

Grasping they're replacing Fehr with Owen Nolan.

Doubt it. Though I'd like to see Chimera-Mojo-Eakin for a stretch. That very well might be the fastest line in the league.

Hope so.

· Eakin – Johansson – Ward
· Chimera – Halpern – Hendricks
· Sjogren

· Hamrlik – Green
· Alzner – Carlson
· Schultz – Wideman
· Erskine

All of the injury prone-must go!!!

AFAIK, Paquette is a lesser Della Rovere.

I am thinking that we will hear a Alzner re-signs with the Capitals within a few hours from now. Fingers crossed!

It's a shame...another 1st round bust gone. Hopefully he'll improve now that he's out of the BB doghouse...

Wasn't Fehr top-5 in the entire league in even strength goals per 60 minutes played in 09-10?

What a waste.

The return and the condition about the physical gives me the impression that neither side are keen on his injury situation.

I love how the usual Caps critics are somehow using this trade as a "yep I told ya so, McPhee sucks".

An injury prone player who can't stay out of the coaches doghouse is easily replaceable. If anything, it was just a bad use of a 1st rounder. Lets be real for a minute. Hockey player with two bad shoulders and is a bottom 6 guy on a good team when the team is healthy. I can't see how anyone expected much more of a return. This was a throwaway player now.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get above $3 million.

EDIT: And Appreci8 aren't the same guy. Honest.

I would have preferred to see Chimera go rather than Fehr, but I can't get everything I want.

Double EDIT:

With Pinizzotto signing with the Canucks, I wouldn't be surprised if Hershey's needs were kept in mind as well.

The only player to get any blame at all in the playoffs IIRC, its really no surprise. Coupled with our Ward pickup at 3M, we knew he wasnt going on the 4th line. Fehr is not a 4th liner so.... bam like that he is gone. I would have like to see him get a shot on a scoring line proper before moving him for peanuts... all the development time devoted. he gets a few shifts per year with Ovi.

At least we got a major league pest out of it. Ok a minor league pest. George's attempts of drafting a pest have failed.

We are moving out the injury prone.... I think George learned a lesson extending Poti who most here are already sticking on LTIR and its only July.
