Man... This kid says all the right things. Here's a quick interview after his two-goal game. I especially liked the character and maturity he showed at the second question:

watching the game right now. Wow, this kid is insane. I don't know how his skill will translate over to the NHL but he looks sick right now.

Currently averaging 13:08 per game on SKA's 2nd line with Tikhonov and Kovalchuk. Definitely seeing some PP time despite the modest minutes. One of the top PPG performers in the entire league which continues what he did in last years PO's. He has 7g-7a-14pts in only 9 games after picking up a primary assist today in a 2-1 loss to Lokomotiv. He's been back a couple of games now after a brief concussion scare. Prior to that incident he was starting to string together multi point games and getting on a crazy roll.

He's looked normal after concussion?

Who play on the FIRST line if Tank and Kovy are on the second, lol?

Yeah, no reported after effects. SKA pulled him immediately as a precautionary and he sat for 3 games I believe. They followed standard protocol and didn't risk his health, and it wasn't a big hit anyway. SKA is so loaded up front comparitive to other KHL squads that they could afford to sit him.

No kidding, a 2nd line that has the two top PPG performers in the league really isn't a 2nd line.

They are the 1st line. The 2nd is Thoresen-Mortensen-Prucha. And Tarasenko's TOI is higher. It's just his 1st game (a few shifts in the 3rd) and the game he was injured (7 min), that make his time that low.

He scores in every game this season btw. That makes 9 in a row.

There was no concussion. He was sat out of the next 2 games as a precaution, but the tests showed he was fine. Back up to 16mins in his first game back and he has taken a few knocks since and is fine. Kovy is a little quicker to jump to his defence if anyone takes a shot at Tarasenko though!

As Kshahdoo said, the Kovalchuk-Tikhonov-Tarasenko line is the SKA first line. The only reason that the Tarasenko minutes look so low is because he has basically missed 4 periods of hockey in his 9 games (2 in his first game, 1 in the game he was taken out of).

Tarasenko isn't on the primary PP unit, but when they are scoring at 30%, you don't mess with that. 7-7-14 in his 9 games, you have to wonder what it would look like without the missed ice time and if he was on the primary PP unit!

Surprised there hasn't been more talk about Tarasenko with his current success in the KHL. I know right now I'm more excited than ever for him to come play in St. Louis.

He's a Blues prospect. If he were drafted by Toronto this would be 'Tarasenko part XXV', and he'd be called the greatest thing since indoor plumbing.

I've been excited for him to come over for 2-3 years now. Hard to keep waiting.

Not really - he signed the ELC with the Blues and came over to skate/practice with the team...but yes, he is still in the KHL due to the lockout, and yes, he will come over when the lockout ends.

Serious question though: how does an HF poster with over 3500 posts not know that Tarasenko is playing in the KHL right now (and that he signed his ELC)?

I know about the ELC and thought he was in Peoria because he was supposed to be in NA this year...

I did not think the lockout changed his plans..

Ah, ok. Peoria was never really in his plans. 99% of Blues fans realize that it's either NHL or KHL (and when he plays in NA, it will definitely be in the NHL...he won't need seasoning in the AHL). However, he did have a contract issue with SKA that held up him agreeing to play there this year; the speculation is that he wanted a clause in the contract that would allow him to play in the AHL if he didn't like how things were going with SKA.

I see, cause earlier this summer I had read that he would play in Peoria if he had too, and the. To find out he wasn't playing there surprised me.

How's he doing though ?

9G-7A-16PTS in 12 games. 3rd in PPG behind only Kovalchuk and Malkin. Currently shooting at 31% up from 22.4% in last years PO's. The funny thing is this might not be as impressive compared to what he did in last years PO's where he lead his team in scoring from the 4th line while averaging the 2nd fewest minutes on his team. I'd say he's doing great, but it would be more accurate to say he's made the KHL his *****.

Goal and 2 primary assists for Tarasenko in 9-2 win. 10+9 after 13 games. His PPG is better then some blue chip prospects' one in CHL...
