We have top notch commentators?

Steve Goldstein, Bill Lindsay - Florida Panthers: It's a shame that less than 4,000 households per night watch the Panthers. Their television pairing is top-notch, hidden by the weakest television market in the NHL and a team that hasn't made the playoffs in ten years.

Goldstein is the prototypical television play-by-play voice -- engaging and fast-moving, introducing segments and reading ad copy quickly but in a relaxed manner. He calls a steady game without bias in his voice or tone and identifies line changes, blocks, tips and hits without fail.

Bill Lindsay was a plugger during his playing days, totaling 224 points in 777 games as a checking wing. His days on the penalty kill paid off as he, along with Andy Brickley, is among the very best at explaining special teams and individual breakdowns as they occur. He also understands coaching and systems like few other men on television. It's a treat to listen to him explain the tactics and strategies used by the Panthers and their opponents.

I beg to disagree with that article. They're OK. They don't really inspire you or catch your imagination like a great booth duo can. And I doubt I'll look back in 30 years and reminisce about their game calls.

Maybe not 5 out of 5 points, but they're pretty good imo. Nobody's perfect, but they're doing their job well.

As bad as the Pens guys are, Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley are just horrid, and disgustingly biased Every time I watch a fight, or highlight of any sort with them, I either elect not to watch it or put it on mute, because I can't stand Edwards and how he hangs from Lucic, and Chara's belts.

Edwards may be biased, but he at least knows how to do his job and is damn good at it. Both Goldstein and Lindsay are homers and they just aren't very good at commentating.

I'm not a big fan of either one of them. Lindsay has some nice behind the scenes stories, but besides that he's pretty bad. I hate Goldies voice.

And have they ever gone a game w/o talking about food? lol

Every time I watch Eddie Belfour do his diving impersonation of Staal, I get depressed to think how much better those two commentators were compared to Lindsay and Goldie. I would mute the game and/or switch the channel if they got too damn off topic/annoying.

Ever seen the Lightning commentators? Goldstein and Lindsay pale in comparison to that little group of personalities as far as homers go...

Any broadcasting list that has Doc Emrick as a 2 star of 5 announcer should be discredited on the spot.

I have been listing to panther hockey since the beginning and I don't miss potvin at all. First he was great, but his last five seasons all he would do is complain about the sticks breaking all the time.

As much as I like Billy, this.
If we weren't Denis Potvin, it could be seen as a jab at Lindsay.

I don't dislike them though, they act like sisters sometimes.

Goldstein's voice isn't half as annoying as Doc Emrick's.

Of all the times I've been in the same room with Randy Moller, I never actually spoke to him face to face. He sounds like he's either a heavy church goer or a pipe smoker.
Our boys are in the upper middle I feel. Many lame duos.
I give Goldstein credit for his skills mentioned in the article.

With Potvin, we were in the top 10 duos, no homer.
I can't believe a Rangers fan is saying this....no more can I bring myself to follow the whistle for "Potvin Sucks".
I'll go even further, I loved Potvin as our commentator! He was our voice of honesty. I would take him back here ASAP.
Again, no offense Billy.

I'm honestly surprised that they were ranked so high. I consider their pairing mediocre overall compared to the rest of the league. I've seen much better and I've seen much worse. I don't mind Goldie at all, although I would have rather have kept Dave Strader and Lindsay has some good incite to bring to the table, but his voice isn't very clear to listen to. I really loved having Potvin here unless we were playing the Islanders and we had to hear his memories of the four Cups a million times.

Ever since I watched a panthers-bruins game last season with NESN. And jack Edwards saying that he doesn't understand why the panthers exist and should be moved to Quebec city I personally hate NESN and Edwards. He is the most biased sports caster in any professional league and is a disgrace to the hockey media.
