I really hope to see him for a couple games at the end of the college season.

I was at this game. First time I had seen him play without really knowing anything about the BC team other than that they were always good. He really stood out due to his speed, skill and of course that play. Despite that play I took notice of him right from the opening faceoff. Kid is impressive lots of talent.

Any word on his off ice training? Kid could be a real gem if he can build some lower body strength.

Hes starting to mature as an athlete. he has gotten quite a bit faster and stronger in his upper body. dont know about his lower body but he is in the 160-170 range. he was around 140 when he was drafted

I just pray he doesn't pull an Erixon and try to get dealt to the Bruins. It's likely irrational but ever since Erixon screwed the Flames over (or possibly screwed himself over given where he's at now) it's something I worry about.

1. He wanted to go to his Dad's former team, Rangers
2. We had too many old players on D with 1 way contracts; even though Feaster said there would be a spot for him to earn it wasn't good enough
3. Gaudreau has been vocal in his loyalty to Calgary; though I think J Schultz did something similar with Anaheim.

He'd be leaving a team where basically any position is up for grabs to a Boston team where their top 6 is locked for a number of years to come.

Isn't he from New Jersey? I can't see his type of game meshing well with the Bruins.

Similar but Schultz didn't have the fan fare until his last few months of his last year of college, Gaudreau has publicly stated for a year now he hopes Calgary will sign him and he still would have to go back to BC for another year in order to bolt. I expect him to sign after this years college season.

And Tim Erixon is just a spoiled soft brat still sucking on momma's boob, hope he's enjoying the AHL.

Kids the real deal, hes the next in the line of great BC small guys, Gionta Brothers, Gerbe, Atkinson, Shannon. Now does he become Brian Gionta, a first liner? or does he just settle down as a 3rd-4th liner like most of the rest of them. The book is obviously still out on Atkinson he could become a top 6 player still, but will probably settle as a good 3rd line winger.

Worked out well for Erixon:

Demands trade to NYR,
Gets sent down
Plays a few games for the Rangers
Traded to Columbus
Sent to minors.

What a dumb**** Erixon is. he would be playing top 4 minutes in the NHL right now if he had a brain.

We got Wotherspoon, Horak and Granlund for him. I might do that deal even if he hadn't requested it. Wotherspoon probably doesn't have Erixon's ceiling, but he has a higher floor. Granlund and Horak could both be top 9 forwards. For a guy who probably has #3 upside in Erixon that's pretty decent value.

While the size argument certainly comes into play. The kid just looks like a special offensive type of player with a clutch element.

Can't wait to see how he does against NHL players.

Remember Fleury was slated as a AHL gate attraction.

And no WJC to hurt his overall totals this year. I know its a stretch, but would a 100 point season be amazing.

You could easily go Baertschi-Monahan/Gaudreau-Monahan and they are both Kane-Toews lite

Yes it would. 65pts would be an incredible season.

64 points would be a full season at his pace last year. 100 points is unrealistic but 70-75 isn't.

Watched him tonight against Minnesota. Another goal and the Boston offence is completely channeled through him. He is an automatic zone entry with possession and had/or was responsible for double digit scoring chances. Very Patrick Kane like.

Only knock is he seemed disinterested in the defensive zone. First to flee/look for the break away pass. He is never gonna be a great defensive player because of his size, but I expect better.

I think it may be a symptom of Boston losing so many players. I thought he was 'decent' last year at back-checking and forcing turnovers, but perhaps Boston is trying to force more offence through him? Hopefully this isn't the case (as it seems defensive play is one of the hardest aspects to prospects transitioning into the NHL) - though if it is, I would expect a large increase in his offensive stats.

Gaudreau was pretty non existent today against #1 Minnesota. Sure he can rack up points against some small northeastern schools but doesn't look that good against real teams. Some good dives today though.
