Are the Hawks planning on using Olesz or burying him?

The point I was making "to NOT be EXCESSIVE" has nothing to do with being right or wrong. It was that I thought a moderator had more of a burden to stay somewhat moderate himself so that he would be in a position to keep others from going over the line, and I thought your mission to counter every non-negative post about Stalberg was getting excessive. Your entitled to your opinion but jeez louise BWC!

That's the $64,000. question ... or make that the $3.1M question. If Rocky wasn't already shelling out over $5M for Huet to not play with the Hawks, then maybe he gets buried. But put Olesz and Huet's salary together and that's a lot of cabbage to swallow and not vomit.

My guess is he is on the opening day roster unless somehow he's traded or someone at training camp comes out of nowhere to the point where the Hawks have to find a roster spot and then maybe Olesz get's sacrificed.

He needs to be more physical in order for this to work.

this plain isn't true.. you know very well Kopecky played PP time as well as with Hossa during Hoss' blazing red hot start

Stalberg could easily wind up being the extra forward.

He could potentially become a Jason Blake type. Great speed with little else. When Blake had his career year on Long Island it was because he was more or less a garbage man, something Stalberg will have to do because he doesn't have the shot or the hands or offer much of anything but speed really.

The Stalberg signing might be good news because I think it increases the chances of the Hawks either burying or moving Olesz in some way. I honestly didn't think Stalberg would get signed in order to help make room for Olesz's cap hit, but this signing is surprising and makes me wonder if the Hawks have other plans for Olesz other than having him on the roster.

Having many potential players fighting for spots will only be good going forward. Training camp will be interesting.

Reason people write off Paradis--They haven't watched him play recently.

Couple of years ago his skating was the big knock against him,he worked on that and has improved to a point where it is no longer an issue.

drafted too high-probably
given up on by Canes-don't know the story there
given up on by Leafs-not true,he was given up in a trade for Versteeg
Average #s in Q-was given defensive responsibilities that slowed his #s and still managed about a PPG

Those who have written him off already will be surprised when the 2013 season comes along and Paradis is on the Hawks opening night roster.

Stalberg is a pretty bad NHL player, like bottom 10% of the league. But he is fast and showed some effort (finally) in the playoffs, so maybe there are some good things to come.
He is still a work in progress. Has great speed and hasn't been a pro that long so he could develop into a good 3/4 liner if he adds some jam to his game. Did he have any last year ? I didn't see him enough.
Too me he is in the same boat as Bozak when it came to signing him. Money is ok and could you really risk dumping them ?

Agree with you on Paradis. Nobody thinks much of him on the Hawks board but I think he'll be a hell of a bottom 6er.

Actually, CrazyIke is the only guy that thinks anything of Paradis (i.e. not very much), but he's very vocal about it so you think everyone is giving up on him. This will be the year we get to see what his future holds.

I just realized I don't give a damn if Stalberg only puts up 24 points again. If the kid can learn how to PK and get under the opponent's skin, I think he's a perfect fit for our 4th or even 3rd line. Have him spend a few days working with Bolland, he'll teach him the ropes.

Why the hate? He's a solid 3rd/4th line guy. Good signing IMO

Stalberg and Olesz will be battling for pressbox position.

Problem I have with Paradis is he has very limited upside ,, At most maybe a 3rd liner (Most likely 4th liner)

But it is gonna be a struggle for him to even make it to NHL let alone be slotted into any role

Paradis does nothing exception in any aspect of the game. He will probably end up similiar to Micheal Blunden

I'm hearing that his defense and puck-possession are both top notch. Also, he has a damn hard slapshot.

It still remains to be seen if he'll make the NHL, but I think he's got a better shot at it than he's given credit for.
