If you could have 1 guy back...

IF SALARY WAS NOT A FACTOR which one of these guys would you rather have on this years team? Also in what order would you want them back?

1)Jason Arnott

2)Bill Guerin

3)Petr Nedved

4)Janne Niinimaa

5)Sievey Salo - For you Matts... :lol

6)Mike Comrie

Well obviously Peter Ing will be at the top of everyone's list...so aside from him who do you guys want back?

Guerin in his Boston-early Dallas form. But if we're talking about the way these players perform now:

1) Nedved
2) Niinimaa
3) Arnott
4) Guerin

Is there a reason you left Dougy off the list? He was a true Oiler and I would love it if he came back. And he's still going strong, unlike some of the other options.

I left him off simply because IMO he would be the IMO 99% of the people's 1st pick...I never even though of putting Comrie on there...ill add him on...

Obscure pick-Scott Fraser (I really think he'd have done okay if he hadn't taken the big dough and let it go to his head.)

Could you possibly mean Maltby?

Draper was drafted by the Jets, and traded to the Wings.

Yes but our current can also make the playoffs.

I'd take Weight back if not for his huge salary. Comrie's skill is missed as well.

re

This is tough

1) Janne Niinimaa
2) Petr Nedved
3) Jason Arnott
4) Bill Guerin
5) Mike Comrie
6) Tommy Salo

It's too close...If salaries aren't a factor, bring back Doug Weight and CuJo...the last goalie we won anything with

My thoughts as well.. these are two guys that would probably still be here if money wasn't the huge issue it is today in the NHL environment. I'd kill to have a dominant #1 centerman in Weight and a top defensive pairing of Niinimaa/Brewer..

One thing makes me wonder though. Between around 1998-2001 we had the dominating goaltending of Cujo followed by the "Top 5 in the league" netminding of Tommy Salo. At the same time we had Niinimaa coming into his own, Guerin really coming into his own, Weight playing at arguably his peak (its very clear hes not going to match his Edmonton numbers in St.louis now). Hamrlik was here, not at his best, but still good enough. Boris Mironov was having his career years. Yet with all that talent, we were still fighting for those last playoff spots. We never once got anywhere close to a top 4 conference finish or the dominating regular season level the 'Nucks are playing with these days.

I'm thinking back in those days the top end talent was good enough but the supporting cast was more than lacking. Now, we have a great supporting cast, but almost no top end talent. Everything balances out.
