With the nhl and khl now having an exchange agreement, is anyone else worried about how the 50 contract limit could affect our ability to sign players? couturier is our property as the 8th overall pick but he is simultaneously property of Salavat Yulaev Ufa, having been selected 133rd in the khl draft. if we are still at 50 contracts come training camp hes in position to bolt if hes determined to go pro. the new agreement only covers players who are specifically under contract. it just seems to me that if ther was a situation the khl has been waiting for to lure a north american player away it would look alot like this one.
Meh, that doesn't change anything for north american players ... up to now any player who wasn't signed to a deal could sign with a KHL team and no one (significant) did. The only thing that changes is that Bobrovsky, for example, can't leave for the KHL, like Radulov did, as they agreed to "honor" each other contracts.
