If Sestito makes the squad shelly is good as gone Sestito is younger cheaper and probly better at doing what shelly gets paided to do..

Sestito fights heavys? Personally I wouldn't mind Shelley playing only games where there is a true enforcer on the other team. And if there isn't then just play Rinaldo or Sestito.

Why, though? If you don't dress a heavy their heavy is useless. Until they get rid of the instigator players like Shelley are silly to dress. Heavies don't bother me, it's the dip sticks like Avery I'd like to be able to go after.

Hartnell-Briere-Jagr
JVR-Giroux-Voracek
Testwuide-Schenn-Simmonds
Talbot-Betts-Nodl
Sestito

Hope this is the roster for the season and with these guys I'm not at all worried about players like Avery

hahah nahhh i love those, if I could I wouldn't wear gloves, gives me a better handle on the stick.

and Sestito isn't a heavy? I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't fight heavyweights with his huge frame.

Sestito is two pounds smaller than Shelley and a few inches taller. He fought 18 times in the AHL last year. I think he qualifies as a heavyweight, whether or not Holmgren is willing to bury Shelley with the Phantoms

Rinaldo

Nodl and Talbot are interchangable really, but I Nodl is going to improve offensively when compared to Talbot.
I want Jagr with JVR and Giroux, and Voracek with Hartnell and Briere, just so the second line isn't a bunch of younger guys, though they would probably be fine by themselves. There is also the added bonus of JVR and Giroux getting regular playing time with Jaromir Jagr, where they can perhaps learn a few things.

Jordin Tootoo 5'9" - 197lbs
Tom Sestito 6'5" - 228lbs

Sestito has eight inches and 31 pounds with that advantage that should never happen IMO. He maybe willing to fight heavies but I don't know if he'll be any good at it.

ps he had a fight with downie a while back and downie rocked him too.
Downie 5'11" - 191lbs

That would essentially make the Giroux line our top line though.

JVR-Giroux-Jagr
Hartnell-Briere-Voracek
Nodl-Schenn-Simmonds
Talbot-Betts-Sestito
Shelley/Rinaldo

Works for me.

I think the reason they felt they could deal Carter and Richards was that Giroux's was ALREADY the top line last year. He was leading scorer, etc. Replace an out of position Carter with Jagr and you might not lose that much, esp. if JVR and G can continue to improve as expected.

That leaves Voracek and Briere on the next line - someone on O&B board says Hartnell told someone 'I'm gone', so heck knows whether any of the above players will be in the lineup by Training Camp.....

Lets say Couturier has an awesome camp and so is Schenn... what do you think would be the lineup...

Couturier and Schenn both shoots left, one of them could move to LW, unless Giroux or Briere move to the wing

JVR - Giroux - Jagr
HArtnell - Briere - Voracek
Coutiurier - Schenn- Simmonds
Betts- Talbot - Nodl

Shelley/Sestito/Rinaldo

Shelley hasn't proven **** in a Flyers uniform and makes an insane amount of money. He's below Cote in my eyes. Let's waive him to Mumford and Sons.

If you really think Shelley - in today's NHL - deserves a spot on this team with the contract he has and role he actually provides, you should probably stop opining on hockey.

He's a great guy, and yeah, he's a warrior, but nowadays you need guys who can actually play the game. Especially if they make over a million on your cap.

Even with your use of the word "might" ... That's asking an awful lot of the mulleted geezer.

We'll lose Carter's 30-40 goals, but if JVR and Giroux kick in another 15 between them, which isn't outrageous, and Jagr scores 20, you're there - for Giroux's line anyway.

I really can see Jagr as a very motivated, productive player.

The fact is, the vets like Pronger, Timonen and Briere who advocated a culture change got it - they are the ones who have to produce. If Briere only scores 6 goals this year, we're screwed.

I also get the feeling that there is at least one more major move to be made, not sure what it will be.

We'll see.
