this is what I like...'cept Harti instead of Brule, Brule is done as an Oiler.
To be completely honest I'd rather have Brule taking the seat in the PB instead of Harti. If an injury happens then sure call Harti up. But no point in wasting him away in the PB.
Steal for the Ducks. As I said on the main forums, one of my worst fears begins to materialize. Horcoffs forced presence for the next 4 years means we have to get rid of still young guys with big upsides to part of their games.
I'm sure he will be traded with a d prospect for a young d man.
Maybe Gagner to Nashville for Ryan Ellis/Jonathen Blum?
Our Centre depth is nice right now and should only get better when RNH, Lander, and Pitlick develop.
Horcoff
RNH
Belanger
Lander
These are going to be the opening night Centres. Mark my words.
I'm trying to make sense of your words let alone marking them. You say our center depth is "nice" yet you show two guys who haven't played a game in the NHL. Maybe our center prospect depth is nice but our NHL center depth is brutal.
Cogliano was never going to be a big part of a trade for a Top-4 D-man, as we would've had to add too much to him to make it worth it. Who has an extra top-4 D-man to trade straight after free agency? Especially one with Cogliano as part of the package? It wasn't going to happen.
We clear up the log jam.
I have my doubts were done trading wise though. I think the other shoe will drop to help out on the PK. I think this just gives us another trade chip to trade which isn't salary or contract based.

We've had a lot of success in the 2nd round of recent drafts. A decent return.
Just to be an antagonist...
What success have we had with 2nd round picks?
We are POISED to have sucess with recent 2nd round picks. I admit I have rose colored glasses, with Marincin, Petry, Pitlick, Hamilton, Lander. They sure look good...way better then any other teams group of 2nd liners....but not one of them has played a game in the NHL and even with all my love of all things Oil, a little voice inside me reminds me on how we overhype every player we have.
That said, we had no room for Cogs..plain and simple. We are close to our contract limit, and we couldn't get a contracted player in return for him that would improve our team. So SOMETHING is better then nothing....
I may be easing on my Omark to the AHL stance now...Cogs was going to play wing for the Oilers, and there wasn't room for him and Linus and they werent going to waive Cogs.

which part of Cogs game had "big upside"?...very little offence, couldn't win a draw and too small to be gritty
Wish the kid nothing but the best in Anaheim. He had a good attitude here in Edmonton and tried to get better in practice. I wish things could have worked out because I liked him. Was just a numbers game at center.

Belanger signed-----Cogs traded = Win
RNH drafted --------- Fraser traded = Win
Our centre depth is already better than last year. By a country mile. You are blind if you don't see that.

I'm expecting the oilers to do a few more things too. Cogliano MAY have been a piece of a larger deal, but a fairly minor piece. The oilers have far more valuable assets than Cogliano if they're really serious about adding, say, a top-4 defenceman.
