Our No-Name Surprise of the Season

Usually we get one or two of these guys that come out of nowhere and kinda surprise us.

Last season it was either Winnik or Porter, maybe even HM's to Mauldin.

The season before it was Yip or Galiardi.

Who will be our "who the hell..?" one-season-wonder this season?

Winnik, Mauldin and Galiardi have all only shown us their average level of play, nothing "one season wonder" about them. Porter was downright awful a lot more than he was amazing, I think most people are hoping he can improve if anything.

Hopefully it's one of our defencemen and hopefully it's a "from this point onward" thing not a "one season wonder". QUINCEY.

Lindstrom, and I think maybe Hunwick, (possibly Elliott/Barrie). Kobasew could be thrown into the mix if he gets a top 6 role.

It has been said by others but I think Malone has the ability to come out of nowhere and surprise. Not a top 6 guy but a bottom 6 guy with sandpaper and a little offense to boot.

Desjardins will pull a "Reimer", but better, when Varlamov and/or Giguere get hurt and gets a chance to start.

I think Kobasew starts to regain some confidence and skill playing with our more offensively minded club. I think by the end of next season he will considered a huge steal in terms of value.

Galiardi puts up 25 25 and shuns the non believers.

edit: No name you say, then Id have to go with Olver, I like what I saw from him last year.

Kobasew. Didn't like the move at first, but he was a good player in Boston. I think he returns to form with Colorado.

Olver. I suspect the Duke or Mueller to go down again soon this season and Olver will shine!

Lindstrom, Kobasew, Chouinard. Of course now that we have had this thread none of us will be surprised.

To outsiders: the team as whole will surprise hockey fans everywhere.

PS- Landeskog will nail down the Calder.

He isn't really a no-name but I think Galiardi will have a big bounce back season. I also expect Stastny and Hunwick to look better than last year.

As for the others (Olver, Lindström, Winnik, McClement) so much hinges on what opportunities they get/earn. Ultimately I think if these guys help stabilize our PK, it should be considered a success even if they don't put up great numbers.

Sorry, Galiardi may not have been some superstar or somethin like some here believe during '09-'10, but the guy was great, not average. He played his role perfectly, which is something that is vastly underrated among too many hockey fans.

As for this year, Stoa.

Kyle Quincey.

I think he will have a great year, especially compared to last season's no goals, 1 assist campaign.

Patrick Bordeleau is my long shot for the year.

He will have a good camp and make the team as an enforcer to replace Koci. Once the season starts he shows he can actually play hockey too and ends up scoring 8 goals to go along with 7 assists while leading the team in PIMs.

Lindstrom is my pick, he was a PPG player in a Defense heavy league, I excpect him to come over and put up 25/20 this season! And I think Kobasew will do a little surprising, maybe reach 20/20 this season and if he gets on Duchenes line maybe 25/30!

I am hoping he will be paired with Johnson. Hannan sort of abandoned Quincey with the puck putting a lot of pressure on him. Johnson would give Quincey more time and space to move it. At least that is what I am hoping for.

I think Wilson has a big year. Just sort of rounds out his game, plays more controlled, and continues to level the opposition at our blue line.

I could also see Hunwick being much improved. He can't get much worse and hopefully he will be looking at less minutes.
