I look forward to seeing Vitale play so much in the preseason, the regular season, the All-Star game, and the playoffs during a 28 game cup run while flying over to Helinski and Stockholm to play for Team USA during the World Championships.

This is, of course, only if he trains under Gary Roberts this summer.

did i say he is a lock for 20-25 or did i say it was MY opinion he can score that many on the right line. just like its my opinion that when he is healthy he will be on the roster, i think he has proven it.

If the Pens play Buffalo 82x a season, Jeffrey would be a top 10 player.

And what gives you the idea that he will put up 20-25? Again, I ask everyone to rewatch his goals last season. He's a very cerebral player and a decent skater. But he had some serious luck with pucks going off skates and bodies and finding their way in the net. He could very well end up beng the 3C but I think that's letestu's spot until Jeffrey proves otherwise.

If they didn't want to subject him to waivers, then like you said they won't subject, Jeffrey, a better player, to it.

Great price, but at that cap hit you have to think he's going to the in the AHL for the foreseeable future.

DJ just seems to have that knack for scoring ugly goals and goals off the cycle. I think he'll be very successful here.

Not to start. Waivers are not currently active and Jeffrey is going to start the year in WBS, after rehabbing his knee.

If he is needed, he'll be called up, and at that point, will be with the team for the remainder of the season, because he'd have to clear waivers to go back down, but wouldn't make it.

Huh? I was talking about his contract. Ben Lovejoy got a contract last season (the first season was a two-way), but they never had any intention of sending him back down. Somebody would have claimed him for sure, just like Jeffrey.

It doesn't work that way. The minute he is heathy, and/or finishes a rehab stint(14 days)...he would have to clear waivers to remain in WBS.

If he's still on IR he'll have to clear waivers because he's still technically up with the big club. He can't be sent down until he's healthy other than a rehab stint.

I think DJ will be an important part of this team in the near future. Really glad we re-signed him, I just hope he gets his chance. I've been high on him.

Did someone around here really say that Vitale could score 50 points, or are you guys just making fun of the overall hype (to the extent it exists) around him on this board?

Good signing by Shero. I think he'll contribute well in the bottom-6, with some spot duty on the top two lines and PP.

I'm so happy with this.
DJ Jazzy Jeffery is going to be a nice asset once he's healthy.

Joe Vitale, now with 50pt LW potential!

Anyways with Jeffrey, I think his shot is fine, it's not the type of shot that Letestu has, but it does the trick for Jeffrey. What Jeffrey does have is a very good slap shot, the guy was used on the point in WBS for that. So there's that versatility as well with him, being able to play the point.

I hope Jeffrey continues to improve his skating and just every part of his game, hopefully more players take on Sid's mentality for closing the gap on their faults the way he does.

I'll miss Talbot, but he is not that type of player that will make you say at some points during the season "gee, I wish we had Max Talbot still!"
I've been saying this for well over a year now. People got way too caught up in Talbot's game 7 heroics and his loveable personality that they tended to overlook the fact that in the end the guy is just another dime-a-dozen bottom 6 role player. Personally, I too think Jeffrey is a considerably more talented player than Talbot (albeit a DIFFERENT type of player). He definitely has the potential to be a very good 3rd liner at the NHL level, but MAYBE even has enough talent to be solid 2nd liner as well. I guess a lot will depend on how he recovers from his injury, and just what the organization has planned for him in terms of development. Personally I'd love to see him try to make a full-time move to the wing though.
