I really do believe that the ideal scenario for the team is for V-tank to make the squad and for MDZ to continue his development in Hartford. If you think about it, if the organization can develop another asset like V-tank, it will give them a tremendous number of options down the line (i.e. trade deadline, summer, etc). You have to think that when other teams chat with Sather about trades, they are just licking their chops over the d-men on this team and in the pipeline. We still need scoring and I think the team's tremendous depth on D will eventually help us get it.
Gernander discussed some of the Rangers young players with Hartford Courant columnist Paul Doyle
Quote:
The other high-profile player in camp was Erixon, who will bid for a spot on the Rangers' roster this fall. A first-round pick of the Flames in 2009, Erixon was acquired by the Rangers for two second-round picks.
Erixon was born in New York when his father played for the Rangers, but he grew up mostly in Sweden and spent the last four years in the Swedish Elite League.
"Very skilled defenseman," Gernander said. "You can see that he's going to be a strong, puck-moving defenseman. Fairly dynamic … but a very simple and very skilled game. He's going to get a lot of consideration in training camp. "

I hope the NYR/Whalepack aren't done yet in the Whale goalie department...
Yeah, can't they bring in a guy like John Curry or something? Wouldn't hurt. They're going to have a lot of goalies this year though. Still unclear on what Grumet Morris is doing.

Rangers I believe also will supply a goalie or two to the ECHL affiliate Greenville. Shouldn't matter that there are a lot of goalies... its the Pros, only the strong survive.

Ughh I just remember a game vs. the Sens two seasons ago--you know, when we missed the playoffs by 1 point--being shutout by this scrub OUCH...

I think a good number of those guys are no longer UFAs. Toivonen, Weiman, Wesslau and Curry are all signed in Europe off the top of my head, and Bacashihua is already under contract to Philly.
I have to say though, I wouldn't mind giving Leclaire a two-way contract if he was interested in trying to play his way back up. Though I don't think he'd be too interested considering how we are set with Lundy and Biron.

i would be interested in having leclaire with the whale. as shown last year, back up goalies get injured too. then again talking about injuries leclaire gets hurt in snow ball fights.
I don't know--I suppose there's worse. I haven't been watching him as much as you though. Opinion on him seems to vary somewhat. At best he's a backup some day.
