business is sometimes seen as impersonal and in some respects it is but in the arena of broadcasting and sports it is full of so much unbelievable animosity and egotism it's almost sad.....I guess with Wilbur downing the kool-aid today that only leaves Simmons as the lone voice in the widerness decrying MLS&E, me thinks it may be sooner rather than later for that boy

Getting embarrased in the ratings has a heck of a lot more to do with it. There is no conspiracy.
Fan will score big if Rogers buys the Leafs, the station is in free fall with the exception of Bobcat, even then I would be curious to see how TSN radio has affected his numbers. TSN must be giving them a run for a start up station, in time they should grab an even larger segment of the market.

The only time slot TSN beat The Fan was from 1-4 when the man who this thread is about, Krystal, was getting beat by a U.S. syndicated show. Which should say enough about Krystal. It's no surprise he was let go.
I stopped listening to the Fan entirely as I prefer every single person on TSN Radio, including Patrick, to all of the Fan people. Had no idea Krystal was fired but I'm not surprised, the guy was brutal. The only thing that shocked me was the ratings between the Fan and TSN, I can't believe how badly TSN is doing. I find them to be younger, smarter and a lot more articulate than the jaded people at the Fan. The only one I'm not crazy about is Cybulski.

Based on Post #35 of this thread, that isn't true. The Fan is winning every single slot including the Krystal slot over TSN. It's just that the 1-4 slot was the only one that TSN radio had any numbers at all while every other one is a complete trounce.

My mistake -- you saying that refreshes my memory. That's what it was -- Krystal barely held a rating lead on the time slot, which was pretty pathetic considering it was going up against a show from the U.S. that hardly ever talks about hockey.
In real life Kouleas is a huge Habs fan. They used to break his balls about it on the old Hardcore Sports.
A friend of mine used to work with him on The Score. He is a rabid LEafs fan. The basement in his house is a giant shrine to the Leafs. Not exactly something a Habs fan would do eh?
The problem with Krystal was that he wasn't really a sports guy. It just happened to be the topic he was trying to rile people up about. He had no real insight and all.
Some of you Leafers are unpleasable. Don't want a homer repping the Leafs. Don't want a hater repping the Leafs. Just like Buffalo, or any other team pretty much. Change the culture of our team and brand. Hopefully, show some of the younger Leafers what it was actually like back in the day.
