I don't think they hate Mike Green enough to trade him to Edmonton.

Yeah you might want to wait until these players actually develop into star players before that

Not to say they won't but often on HF people get ahead of themselves and proclaim something like this based on potential rather than actual on ice product. Green plays the PP with better players in Washington, and for their own division Edmonton still has a long way to catch up to be as good as Vancouver's top PP over the next few years.

Anything hockey buzz should never be posted unless Eklund sounds like he's super confident about a rumor again, just as he was with Mike Richards.

Don't need to shed cap space.

Replacing Green with Gagner makes the team worse. A couple picks/prospects isn't going to change that.

I'd rather have Whitney, at least he can play defense.

He's just piggy backing Eklund's speculation. Eklund said that the Oilers were gonna make a 2nd deal today for a defensemen. Mike Green has been RUMORED to be traded somewhere. He just put two together and wrote some speculation.

Caps fans gave up on responding to these jokes a long time ago.

I wouldn't trade Whitney straight up for Green, and I like Green. I don't think people get exactly how well Whitney played for us before his freak injury last season.

And too bad about this rumour. I'd love to add Green, but since it's hockeybuzz then chances of it happening are less than 1%

Not a big fan of Green, but Gagner + a defencemen would definitely not get it done anyways.

<--Pity handclaps..Come on man, thats the dumbest thing I've read all day... What makes you think the Caps are going to want to pay Green the type of money he's going to be asking for next year?...You can easily compare that to the Kessel situation.. and I can assure you Green is going to ask for a raise, that's something the Caps might not be willing to do... And you actually think that the Bruins had absolutely no idea that the picks they were getting in return were going to be high? Give me a break buddy.. oh and btw, Kessel and Savard had amazing chemistry.. it wasn't a matter of Kessel not 'fitting in' on the team, because he clearly did, it was all about the money...

I don't even understand why you would want to include that in your post, it strengthens MY argument...the Bruins used one of the picks acquired in the Kessel trade to help them win it all this year.. why even mention that in your post? It doesn't help your cause.
Who said anything about valuing draft picks more than a Stanley Cup? Now you're just putting words into my mouth...It's not a matter of valuing one over the other, its about trying to build a contender for the long-term...

this is where I do my "cough cough" and mention that this was tossed out there at the draft by Jim Mattieson and two other reporters and it was like "Wonder if the Caps would trade GReen to the oilers" type

from what I gather Green has one year left and then is an RFA with arbitration rights
it was suggested on caps board I goto that Green is aiming for a one year deal and then he would be a UFA. IF that is true--it is buyer beware

Green for Eberle straight up

Washington gets a good winger with a lot of potential, and gets better defensively

Edmonton gets...

Well he puts up points

I would love to have Green on the Oilers, but I doubt it happens.

Gagner 2012 and 2013 first round picks?

I think that would be fair and it'd stock Washington up for future drafts

Well they've already got one lottery pick for next year. Getting two would be disgusting. You'd have to think it's tempting and with Carlson and Alzner they could likely weather the storm.

Potentially two lottery picks in a stocked draft? Yes, please.
