Glad the blues took a chance on him. Felt really bad for him in Ottawa. the work ethic was there just not the results.

That's what team sports is about, putting together elements that complement each other very well. If it wasn't for Cheechoo's scoring touch, Thornton wouldn't have gotten the assists either. Both of them benefitted from each other's skill. And no player just wins the Rocket Richard, he has to earn it. Pay the guy some respect, it's not his fault that he had double sports hernia. He's always had an exemplary work ethic. It's mainly his finishing skills, chemistry with Big Joe and that work ethic that got him the league lead in goals that season. I just don't understand how someone can mock a guy like Jonathan. Some people don't know anything about this sport, or what's important in a person/life. Just classless...
good post

I know I know we have Wolski and Gaborik.. But if this kid can score 50 off good feeds, I would LOVE to see how he did with Richards.

Anyways, its a moot point since he is with JD and the Blues.. Heres to you Cheech!
obviously not well. Dallas invited him to training camp a couple yrs ago; they did not sign Cheech. 3 orgs have had a close look at him, and 27 other teams have passed on him. he is not an NHL-level player anymore.

How so? He was great for the Sharks in the A, and if he could improve just a fraction of his skating, we'd all love him back just for his heart alone.

Seriously if Cheech could skate even a little better we'd all be clamoring for him to come back home.

Don't you mean the Sens? And no, they shouldn't be thinking that at all. Show some respect.

sigh. no. not even close.

The org liked him enough to give him a tryout with their AHL club last October. Guess they didn't like him enough to sign though.

Edit: But Worcester liked him enough to sign him to two PTO contracts.

He didn't want to be signed, we let him play in Worcester so he could try and earn an NHL job with another club. We simply didn't have room for him in San Jose. Sharks org really likes Cheech and have gone out of their way several times to try and help him out.

Kids all heart and no one likes to see a guy like that struggle so much.
