I thought McGrattan was an awesome fighter when he was in Calgary...I don't know what happened to him though.

Yeah it's getting to the point that a 13th forward should take up little cap space and expect not to play most nights.

I'll miss Godard, he was very good at his job. What he did during the Islanders game is everything I want one of these goons to do, he defended his teammate at the cost of his own paycheck.

I think seeing established enforcers getting 2 way deals is a sign of what is to come. Heavyweights aren't so heavy anymore.

I think the league is shifting to Derek Engelland's and Paul Buissonnette's.

Brian McGrattan? He was in the minors some where last time I checked. I was at the Sens game where he ended Eric Cairns career in one punch.

Hey Pens fans, as an Oiler fan obviously I've seen Big Mac for the last few years. He's without a doubt a top 3 heavyweight in the NHL, can throw with both hands and doesn't go down. Heck Godard broke his orbital bone and he still didn't go down (a very rare loss for him).

He's not very mean though. Had an incident late last year where he jumped a Wild player that took a run at one of the rookies on our team but that was a last ditch attempt to try and earn another contract. He'll politely ask for a fight, and since most guys turn him down he's a liability the rest of the game.

But for the odd game against the Flyers or Isles he can serve a role.

He sounds like one of the Isles prison convicts. Hopefully he keeps them honest this year.

I disagree, MacIntyre is a very good fighter with great technique and can switch hands and has knock out power in both hands. The guy take a punch too.

Who's to say the new signing would ride the pine?

Seems like the kind of guy who will fight after a clean hit. Just another skating PK, aka nothing but a liability.

I hope to never see him in a Pens uniform outside of a Flyers and Islanders game.

A goon signed to a two way contract is better than a top 3 fighter in the league signed to a one-way, imo. I'm happy with this, bc if we're going to have a good, which it seems Shero wants, I'm just glad it's a two-way.

I'll definitely miss Godard, though. Definitely my favorite goon in a Pens sweater in a LONG time.

Yah but he's not Trevor Gillies STUPID, and that is the operative word. He's not a pile of trailer trash.

Bingo.

When other players don't want to fight MacIntyre you know what he doesn't do? Bang people's heads into the ice until they forget math.

MacIntyre has a soul. Don't compare him to that scuzbucket.

He can't play hockey. But he knows his role. He IS a tough guy that's for sure. He's got a great personality and works hard on and off the ice.

HO-LY... I missed that one. That is brutal. And clean. Hey, suit him up for the Islander games and any other games against teams where there is a bad altercation in the game prior. For that money not a bad signing. Godard was ~ $800K wasn't he?

The craziest thing about that hit is that it was AFTER Godard broke his orbital bone in their fight. Gets his face broken and is out there crushing people as soon as he's out of the box.
