One way means nothing, he can still just as easily be sent to the AHL. If anything a one way would make him less likely to be picked on waivers since teams would have to pay him the same amount of money if they too wanted to send him to the A.

Nice signing. I wished he was still in Nashville, but can't argue against going with the kids for the bottom pairing.

Will take some dumb penalties, but will also bang away and provide a physical side. Which is something we may be lacking in Nashville this year.

So who had Colorado signing a defenceman for exactly 1.1 M yesterday?

$1.1M is decent value for 16:47 TOI/GP (including 2:19 TOI/GP on PK).

Ryan Kesler is going to abuse the Avs next season.

Wait, that was going to happen anyways.

We have an average of 225lbs and 6'3" per defenseman in our top 6 now. I'd like to see Kesler try and find any space near our crease to work with. He'll be on the ice faster than you can say Choke Artists.

Colorado is definitely making a trade before the season begins:

Landeskog-Duchene-Mueller
Jones-Stastny-Hejduk

Which leaves the following 10 players:

LW/C T.J. Galiardi
C Ryan O'Reilly
LW/RW Daniel Winnik
LW/RW Cody McLeod
C Jay McClement
RW Chuck Kobasew
RW/LW Brandon Yip
LW/RW Kevin Porter
LW/RW Joakim Lindstrom (they give him a 1-way deal)
C/LW Mark Olver (impressive late season call-up)

To battle it out for 6 lineup spots and potentially 8 roster spots if they keep 14 forwards.

Now throw in this logjam on defence...

They don't have their 1st and 4th in 2012, and their 2nd could be gone too. I see them trading for picks.

We will keep our own 2nd rounder for sure and may be we'll have Boston's 2nd rounder as well.
Nevertheless I can see this happening as well.

You could likely add Malone and Hishon to the list of forwards too, a lot of Avs fans feel that either of them could earn a spot at camp.

Then on D you have:

Johnson
Quincey
Hejda
O'Byrne
O'Brien
Wilson
Hunwick
Cumiskey (Still not re-signed)

and

Elliott
Barrie
Holos
Chouinard
Gaunce
Liffiton

likely also at camp. Likely starting the year in Lake Erie though. I think I may have missed at least one player too. That seems like quite the log jam both up front and on the blueline.

Not saying it is a lot of high end talent or anything, but that is a lot of bodies to fill the roster spots that are available.

Also in the mix will be last years first Joey Hishon, who is probably a favorite to win a spot.

People will def. be moving around.

Oh was it? He'll probably get hit, and go whine to the NHL about how there is a conspiracy against Vancouver. Kesler may be good but he's a b***h and a p***y.

Its time for the Washington Avitals and the Colorado Capalanche to conspire again (see Vokoun)

At the deadline when WSH is sitting at the top of the standings and the Avs after suffering some serious injuries to key players ( preferably goalies) find themselves out of the playoff race:

WSH: Semin
Alzner
1st in 2011 (COL)
1st in 2011 (WSH)
Wideman
Chimera
for

COL: Stastny
Jones
Barrie
Galiardi
+ 5 depth defenseman
Giguere if necessary
+ maybe Hishon

Not likely, most of these will just stay in the AHL as depth.

Good locker room guy, clears the crease well, and good PK'er. Some dumb penalties at times but a good coach can keep that in check. Wish he was still with us, but best of luck to him. Think the AV's will like the addition.

Yeah, great.
Rental Semin would be exactly what we need in this situation.
Terrible.
