What a shame! He has never really had a chance to display his talents in world tournaments as a youth player. This was his last chance before moving on to the senior level.
Injuries like these sometimes make me wonder if bringing in young guys too fast into pro leagues can really hurt them. Apart from the physical struggles, 4-5 month at their age is a big deal. I remember how much Kabanov lost after 5-6 months due to his arm injury.

is this former CSKA prospect in any consideration at all for the WJC or subway series? he's had an exceptional start to his VHL career at the age of 18.
Wonder if Zlobin will get any consideration, has like 11 goals in 9 games, which is pretty crazy. already 2 hat tricks.
From the chl alone you have: Kabanov, Grigorenko, Kamaev, Sergeev, Galiev, Zlobin, Pedan, Telegin, Kokhlachev, Namestnikov, Yakupov. These guys will all be considered, + outside guys like Gogolev, Zharkov (currently injured) who are longer shots. You can almost build the team completely from the CHL.
Zlobin is really good, I think he will be given a chance in Subway series. A couple years ago Zlobin-Khokhlachev-Batrak line dominated in russian junior hockey.

Well, Batrak has already played some games in the KHL, Khokhlachev will be a decent NHLer I hope and Zlobin is also pretty good, don't see why not play them in the Subways series.

They'll probably play the games in their own leagues.
QMJHL: Kabanov, Grigorenko, Kamaev, Sergeev, Zlobin (Victoriaville Nov 7, Quebec Nov 9)
OHL: Pedan, Telegin, Kokhlachev, Namestnikov, Yakupov, Zharkov (Ottawa Nov 10, SSM Nov 14)
I'm happy that most candidates are off to a good start. Some are even better than expected, which creates a lot of competition. Anyway, this is my attempt on the latest forward pack:
I know some guys are out of position, but it would be hard to leave them out. It's really tough to pick the guys for the 3rd-4th lines. And I don't think that Yakupov deserves to be on the 3rd line, for example, but it would be stupid to break up the
(ex)CSKA line, and as a whole they are stronger.
So many guys that I feel bad leaving out because they are doing really well:
Kamaev - he is off to a great start, but his size and age are his disadvantages
Potekhin - He is doing reallly well in the MHL, but again his size is not in his favour
Slepyshev - He is very tempting, but he is younger and maybe can be the 13th forward, but who would you pull from the roster?
Zlobin and Batrak- for the reasons already mentioned, but are their upsides as good as the other guys?
Prokhorkin - Injuries aside, he is a big body with soft hands
Barbashev- He is impressed me lately and is now getting some very valuable KHL experience
Kabanov- Even if he has a stellar season, Bragin will question his character and 'fight', and will protect his peanuts, I think
There are also guys like Kulikov, Rasskazov, Shevchenko, Kosov (KHL!!!) who are making a very strong case for themselves and wouldn't look bad at WJC. These are good problems to have at this stage.
it's the D and the guy between the pipes that concern me, offense is gonna be good.
They should play a 1-3-2 soccer style. I'm sure two forwards will be able to take care of most teams, and the 3rd to compensate for the lack of defense..
Apparently, Shawinigan is interested in Kabanov and I think Zlobin would be the odd man out. They like Nikita Kolesnikovs and they're already weak on defense.
