#Blackhawks extend contracts of radio guys John Wiedeman and Troy Murray through 2014-15. Well deserved. They call a great game.

They're awesome.

My favorite thing about leaving games is listening to their goal calls on the way home. They get sooo excited!

They might be better at TV than radio. John Wiedeman struggles keeping up with the play on the radio and generally the crowd gives away plays before he calls them.

That being said, I grew up listening to Pat Foley and I hope he stays as long as he is willing and able.

Are you by chance a cubs fan? He's pretty much late in his career Carey at this point. Confusing Byfuglien and Versteeg on a semi-regular basis isn't good.

The only thing I dislike about Foley is when he calls Edmonton "The Oil" and Colorado "Denver". There are probably more, but I don't like that.

Foley isn't bad by any stretch.

Weideman is just better, and Murray actually has personality with him. Five years ago Murray had the on-air of personality of Steve Konroyd aka burnt toast.

And anything to rid me of Olcyzk is fine by me. God I hope some moronic team offers him a coaching gig.

Nah I'm just old and have grown attached to listening to Pat Foley. I don't see a comparison to Harry. Wow...Pat might not be what he was 20 years ago, but he doesn't flub every 3rd word like Harry did.

Alright... He's not THAT bad. But Weideman at this point is certainly the better play by play guy.

Also regarding Wiedeman...amd I the only one who thinks his Stanley cup winning goal call was terrible? I'm not bashing him for not knowing it was a goal... just about everybody was confused there. But he was just yelling...didn't have emotion...it came off sounding forced. I would think as an announcer you would probably spend half their life preparing for a call like that, and he flubbed it IMO.

No, he's not Carey yet but he's definitely lost his fastball. He'll botch names at least a couple times a game but I still think he's great and like his call.

If you are trying to say that Weideman doesn't care and forces his calls, I couldn't disagree more.

I was just talking about that one cup winning goal. All in all he does well, and he could be great if he can keep up with the play a little better.

Wiedeman is awesome. If you listen to him, you can almost see the game. His calls may be a little behind because he adds so much extra emphasis and detail to his announcing.

In fairness, my complaints of him being behind the play might be a bit because of the circumstances while listening. I'm at work usually when listening to games, and often times I'm half listening and half working...so the oooh's and ahh's of the crowd might stand out a bit more.

Wideman and Murray ought to be on TV. Foley and Edzo can get really grating and annoying, especially when they start to ramble on about crap no one cares about and ignoring the game. And yes, Foley is getting old and confused, I liked it when he referred to Joel Ward on Nashville as Joel Otto and he retired over 10 years ago. And Edzo is just being Edzo, he can give some insight, but those dumb catchphrases are getting old. "Stop it right there!" "For all you young hockey players out there..." please try something different.

The thing is, when you're on TV it's okay to do that because the viewers are, well, viewing the game and shouldn't need to rely on the call. Wiedeman is perfect for radio.

Now, just get rid of Eddie O and they had a perfect offseason.

I want the announcers to call the game and not do unfunny jokes or bad Harry Caray impressions.

Gods no. I hate Wiedeman's whiney voice. I cringe every time I hear the SC Winning goal call. He doesn't have a TV or Radio voice.

Me too. I also enjoy Troy's interviews with the player of the game or whoever.

Agreed 100%. Foley and Murray would be the best pair for tv.

Foley is awesome and a legend. When the Hawks were terrible, he didn't pull any punches and he'll still call them out if they aren't playing well. You want honesty, not a cheerleader. He needs a partner that complements him well though, and Edzo does not. I'm sick of Edzo.
