One request for clarification:
"Josh Manson VOID Ineligible due to age (born after Sept 15, 1991)"
I am guilty of missing this in the original thread but ask why the date. He is no longer draft eligible, NA eligibility will be 01/01/92 to 9/15/94 next year so not being draft eligible anymore he should be a UDFA.
Ouch. Rules really couldn't have been more clear on that point, though.
Ouch, indeed. But rules are rules and serves me right for doing a bunch of this stuff last minute. I'm actually the most guilty, given I've been on the other end and know what a pain it is to get offers with no links.
Even though I MOSTLY went after the mainstream guys like Da Costa and Miele, I didn't even provide links for the one or two obscure guys I went after. Of course, I was drunk when I submitted them. Much like I am now.
Franchise always seems to take a poor turn at moments like this...
You and I did the same thing we do every year send in a list. This year there is a new rule that says you have to send in links to show those players got signed. So we got hosed.
This league now operates on the basis of rules being rules.
I really wish we could get some more active feedback on some of the issues we're having here. Bids for the second round are due tomorrow and many of us still don't know who is eligible from who is not and who has signed and who has not. Ideally, we could get the webpage updated prior to the start of the second round to make it easier. I know it's a lot of work, but it's hard to make offers on the basis of not knowing who is available. I know you guys are super busy, but if that's the case then you may as well push the deadline on Round 2 bids back so we can regain our equilibrium.

To clarify Dryden this is not new. It's been around for some time to avoid issues with guys signing NCAA players who have not yet left college or are 'rumoured' to be leaving Europe to sign in NA.
If you've done it before without sending links they didn't enforce it and has probably back fired. It's not their responsibility to look up the guys to confirm the offer is valid hence the request for a link.

I hope you're not serious. Instead of asking them to do more work do some yourself, it's all pretty much in this thread. Worst thing that can happen is your wrong and put in a bid on someone who's already signed.

There is work that can't be done by me. The page says that people are free agents that aren't free agents. The list has players on it that aren't free agents. That is how my bid for Brett Carson was thrown out. Half of my team has been resigned and they're still showing 0 for contract numbers. I am sure there are a TON more out there like it. So how do you propose that I "work" on that without access to the list of players who have signed via an updated link on the roster page? Hell, I can match names to names of who has signed and who has not.... but there is no assurance that even if a player is showing "0" on the contract page AND appears on the list that he's even eligible.
I don't feel having one or the other accurately represent the state of free agency is an excessive demand. The list had flaws from the outset. A lot of teams didn't step forward and ask for players to be removed that were under contract. The list still probably has players on it that signed extensions at the 11th hour.

No worries Drew. I'm mad. I'll get over it. But as long as I'm in this league I will never let one rule slide.

The biggest source of problems is indeed from GMs who did not complete their due diligence in reviewing the list of availables and offering their corrections. And i agree, it would be nice to have an updated and validated roster and finances.
Nevertheless, those issues are much in the minority - at this point something like 98% of the list in the free agency post is correct, and that should be more than enough to go on in order to prepare your strategy. It's not like there are franchise-level difference makers lying around without contracts - we're talking about depth guys and marginal prospects at this point. If there's a particular name of interest to you, do a search on the board to see if anyone mentioned them as an exception. Or just put in your bid - worse comes to worst, you don't get the player, as with Carson. Disappointing, perhaps, but unlikely to change the courses of a team positively or negatively.
As an aside, am I the only GM who tracks players I'm interested in who have expiring contracts, and then tick them off when/if they re-sign? I know virtually all my FA offers in a given year before the official list is published...
