Fan Forum Teleconference?

Anyone had a chance to be in one of these? I posted in general, but no one responded.

I somehow managed to get invited to one today (how the hell it happened, is beyond me), with Spurgeon, Scandella and Yeo.

Trying to think of some good questions......

I'm going to try to grab the bullet points from it today, and I'll be sure to post it here. Just in case anyone's curious.

Hah, I'd be willing to bet he didn't know he existed a month ago. Have they even had a chance to skate together?

That would be awesome. Thanks Vash!

If anyone has questions, let me know. No way to promise they get answered, but it can't hurt to try.

This hold music is atrocious.... And for some reason is constantly cutting in and out.

Makes no sense, given that Mr. Wild Forum's introduction was perfect.

-Yeo: What are are your expectations this season?
-Spurgeon and Scandella: How important was the experience of playing during the Calder Cup run in Houston and did you learn anything which will help for this upcoming season?
-Could ask about the loss of Burns on the blue line

I'm just going to play-by-play this (and post count ***** it up). Hopefully that's OK.

Yeo has been VERY busy, by the sounds of things. Planning, organizing, getting all the coaching staff on the same page.

Talk of the development camp, talking about the kids. How they have a harsh transition from HS hockey, Juniors, etc. Teaching them early on, that they need to build good habits, the usual toe-the-line stuff.

This is Yeo's 4th development camp of his coaching career.

Yeo has skated with Granlund one-on-one, very brief, but he was impressed.

99 games played for Spurgy last year between the Wild and Aeroes. (I didn't realize that... wow...)

Doesn't sound like he had any ill effects.

Yeo wants to be tough to play against. Speed, physicality, North-South hockey, playing in the opponent zone, etc.

He's "very excited for the moves that have been made".

Question for the kids on how they'll make an impact.

Scandy wants to be the guy who gets the puck out of the defensive zone. Yeo pushed Spurgy when he was in Houston, and Spurgy feels confident in Yeo.

He stresses effort, above all else. And it got results from both Spurgy and Scandy.

That last one didn't make much sense, I'll clear it up later.

Yeo stressing again about playing in the offensive zone. Stressing that defense leads to offense. Stressing again that making the right moves with the puck leads to good things.

Question for Yeo about how to fill Burns shoes.

Will the kids step up? Will Lundin fill in?

Yeo doesn't want anyone to try to replace Burns by playing like Burns. He wants the kids on the back end to handle pressure, he's confident that the kids he's worked with can handle it.

He feels that both Scandy and Spurgy can move the puck in their own way. Lundin and Zid can do the same.

No one is entitled to anything, from Yeo.

The kids have to know that there's competition for spots, and if they do the right thing, they will get rewarded. Young players are extremely important to him, they "bring life into the room".

He's going to push the kids, that seems plain as day.

He's only said "character" twice so far.

Question about Yeo's assistant's. The guy asking doesn't know much about them, which is odd.... Seeing Sydor is the only new guy.

Wilson holds "an amazing amount of respect" with the team. Darby has a "passion for the game", and brings a lot of energy.

Yeo is talking up Sydor like crazy. Passion appears to be his favorite word for his assistants. Sydor still sounds like he wants to play, he loves to stay late with practice, he loves to work with players.

Sydor taught Scandy a lot, by the sounds of things. Talking about Sydor during practices. "He still makes every single pass in practice."

Yeo knows that Wilson is still running the defense. Sydor is working with forwards, and may be doing line changes (that's my interpretation). Darby and Wilson will co-run the PP, Wilson will continue to run the PK.

Yeo expects his coaches to challenge him, and challenge each other.

~4000 people on this call O.O

Formatting of the scrimmage this weekend.

They're more concerned with the players being rested, no idea on 3, 10-min periods or what.

Asking Scandy about paintball and the leadership training they did.

Scandy is super well spoken, VERY few "uh's".

Didn't say anything of substance though. They worked well with each other, picked each other up, etc.

Spurgy sounds like he's afraid of paintball.

Asking about Scandy's possible concussion.

Scandy confirms it was a concussion, but he say's he had 1-1 1/2 month recovery. 100% now.

Question about Yeo and the coaches scrimmaging with the healthy scratches.

Yeo is laughing, saying that there's no way Spurgy and Scandy would beat the coaches if they're the scratches.

Yeo is saying it can't happen all the time, but he wants to continue to do it.

Another mention of Sydor playing pre-lockout, and "using his stick a LOT".

Question about how the Wild struggled with breakout's last year.

It's a HUGE area of focus for the team this year. Talking about taking more shots, from all over the ice.

A question about becoming Wild. Another question about Kassian taking on Pacquiou (sp?).

Neither player thinks he stands a chance, but Kassian was "very convincing".

Yeo saying he's "not particularly proud" of how much he was cussing up a storm in the first episode.

But he said it's a good representation of how things can get, but it's not him from game-to-game. He responded to the situation, and felt he needed to remind the team who they were. "Character" again.

Yeo thinks Kassian could beat Manny if he were on skates.
