Ribs is getting old... this is why i want carter, hell his cap hit might look like a bargain in 4 years if players like ruutu keep getting these raises... I don't really see the need for a "playmaking" center... if they can play the position and get their line to score goals i don't give a damn how its done
Ribs' game isn't all that dependent on speed or physicality. I don't see age affecting him as much as someone like Morrow or Modano.
Remember, we can trade these guys next year too - and there may be more suitors considering how more of them will be pure rentals. Basically, I don't mind trading our older players, but with any of them the return has to be really good to make me do it this year. With Ribs, it has to be really good with the added condition of including a young stud center.

My thinking is that we're in on this carter thing and then at some point either now or in the offseason we go ahead and flip ribs/morrow/ott etc and move towards the future
although my carter dream seems to be slowly fading
It could really go either way i guess if JJ flourishes in CLB in and the kings miss the playoffs its good for columbus, if JJ sucks with more pressure and the kings make the 2nd round its an awful return for columbus
Why Carter and not Nash?
Why Johnson and not Bernier/Forbort/etc?
Lombardi is retarded. He easily could have both Carter and Johnson for the playoffs and then trade Johnson in the offseason for prospects that fill bigger needs.

i don't think bernier is all he's hyped up to be his sv% is ~.900 as opposed to quick who on the same team has a .930 something... although i'd be willing to give bernier the chance if i was clb
Honestly I think Columbus is doing pretty well here. They're getting a good roster player who will definitely have an impact and who has a less onerous contract, yet will still be guarateed to be in Columbus for all of his prime years... and a 1st. Certainly a better offer than the stuff we were throwing around.
Lombardi is getting desperate as his long-term plan fails to come together. This will be the 2nd year in a row the Kings won't have a 1st rounder. Fine by me. And we have their 2nd rounder.
