He's staying at ESPN. He's leaving CBC, which is a big loss for them. TSN is now one Kypreos short of having the 4 guys who break probably 90% of hockey transactions.

Thank god he's staying at ESPN. He's the only one of their hockey writers that doesn't make me die a little inside every time I read their article (actually Melrose is ok but he's strictly a TV analyst).

Please. Kypreos does not deserve to be mentioned at the same level of the likes of McKenzie, Dreger, LeBrun, etc.
So what trades did he legitimately break before anyone else?
I know Sportsnet was talking about the Arnott trade a good 5 minutes before TSN cut off the Reporters, other than that I don't have a photographic memory of the trade deadline, as I had been up about 24 hours at that point, I also think he broke the Samsonov trade.

So maybe one or two trades. Out of 50-ish? And because the TSN director was loathe to cut off Dave Hodge?

Like I said, I don't have a photographic memory, due to working a graveyard shift and coming home to watch a quite boring trade deadline, but there might have been more. Or it could have been that Kypreos was lucky because the Reporters were taking up WAY too much TV time.
So CBC lost a good hockey guy in Marek the other day, and they now lost LeBrun who's the best on the Hotstove!? Wow.
How could CBC let Jeff Marek go. That guy is brilliant. Don't know if anyone else got to listen to his HNIC daily broadcast on satellite radio but was my favorite program to listen to. I wonder who will be his replacement.
But a nice addition with LeBrun. TSN has all the good hockey minds.
Anyway, TSN is clearly giving the public no reason to watch any other station for anything NHL related (if they weren't already). Lebrun is one of the best in the business, and even if he's not necessarily breaking trades, he has great sources and is always an excellent source of information on what's happening behind closed doors and what NHL players and executives are thinking.

I dont know what it is about Lebrun...he annoys me. I was trying to explain what I didn't like about him to a friend and couldn't. Just something about him. I respect his opinion and think he's a very good hockey guy...but I'd much rather read one of his articles than see him on TV.

Count your blessings. I'd rather have Pierre L than Pierre M any day of the week.
