OFFICIAL Florida Panthers fans' Lounge -- ARCHIVED

Somebody mentioned in another thread that we should make a thread for all off topic and non hockey related issues... so here it is.

STICKY THIS PLEASE!

First order of business:

Watch MTV on Tuesday, August the 3rd, at 4:00 P.M.

I'm going to be on Room Raiders.

Second order of business:

The Warped Tour rocked. Sorry you missed it, Clash.

Again, fewer and fewer ska acts each year. More and more Emo/Screamo each year. Thumbs way down on that crap.

Nicely titled Clint!

I'm not familiar with the show Room Raiders but just to be on MTV sounds cool, lucky you! I'll be sure to watch if I remember.

i dont mind emo/screamo as long as its done well. its the big bandwagon craze right now so theres lots of crappy bands doing it that just wanted a record contract, but theres good stuff out there too. thursday, .hopesfall., poison the well (kinda screamo-y), etc...

but then, there is no substitute for some good old fashioned whine-less hardcore

check out a band out of lancaster, pa called armsbendback...theyre pretty good at the screamo deal.

Glad you had a good time Clint. Ever check ut the meaasge boards for the Toasters and Megalith records? Bucket, Django and some others post there.

As for there bein less and less Ska acts on the tour, from what I see there are less and less Ska bands in general out there. Many kids, if they learn the horns and other marching band instruments, stop playin as they get older due to it not bein as cool as the guitar, drums or bass. But Ska has always seemed to come in waves. I'm just glad that the Vacant Andys haven't been on Warped yet that I know of, as I can't stand the singer from Dashboard Confessional's voice.

Question, bein that they're from Amish country in Pa., do they do an all acoustic show?

Blame the record companies - they've been watching their bottom line more and more since '97. That's when they decided to cut out recording lesser acts and instead went with proven acts and acts that sounded like proven acts. Hence the large number of also-rans in music today. It's why I miss the 80s and early 90s - lots of variety, so you could usually find something you liked in the vast morass of music. Now, it's a tiny morass that stinks like hell.

Y'know, there's only been one new act that's received any publicity that I've actually liked in the last 5 years - the Exies - and they got swept under the rug after their first single. It's funny how tons of promotion can make the masses of screaming teenyboppers fall in love with one-dimensional singing talents like N'Sync or Britney Spears, but the same tons of promotion can't help a band with guys who can actually sing, play instruments, and songwrite...

I watch that show. I dunno if it will be on MTV Canada at the same time, probably not, so I will just have to keep watching it till I see the right one.

I think that I'm one of the only Panther fans that knows what you're talking about. You read the original thread right? Notice that I posted like three minutes after that kid stuck his foot in his mouth.

As I bury my head in shame... today is the most embarassing day of my life. I called a whole bunch of my friends to let them know to watch the show... I even invited a few people over.

The show is about to start and we're all excited... only to see a few asswipes that aren't me.

I call MTV, and it turns out they decided not to use the show today, but to use it October 11th. I don't *****in' know why.

Now you guys probably think I'm a liar or I make up stories to make myself look cooler or something. And ya know what, I can't say that I blame you.

Thank you MTV for making me look like an ass and for embarassing me in front of my friends... hence another reason why I hate MTV.

Clint, this is one of those things you couldn't have made up...don't worry, nobody thinks you're lying. Welcome to the world of TV.

You ought to call the channel by the title I use, something I lifted from Steve Jackson Games' Illuminati: eMpTy Vee

So, anybody up for talking some nonsense here? I'm bored at work right now.

I anxiously await the Pixies at Mizner Ampitheatre this fall.

Beware of anxiously awaiting any band whose members broke up in the 15+ years ago category...they're seldom as good the second time around.

Not that I cared for the Pixies the first time around

Speaking of has-been bands reunited...you can come up to the Fair here in Vermont at the end of the month...we've got the Beach Boys, ZZ Top, and Yes.
