How were some of the other contracts set up? I was hearing that it could go as high as $3MM w/ bonuses, all of which would've been applied to the cap this year because we're at the end of the CBA.

Larsson "refused" bonuses. Lou said it's not in his nature to give them out and Larsson respected that and signed on the dotted line.

I don't think a player like Larsson was bound to hit a lot of the bonuses anyway. Anyone know if Hedman has hit any of his yet?

For perspective: Hedman's cap hit is 3.5mil on an ELC at 900k/yr. Larsson's cap hit is 925k/yr.

I am guessing one of the bonuses has to be games played

Prob right, and he probably realized he would not be playing in the NHL next year with a 3mill cap hit.

That don't play in the CHL. I'm quite certain that you can't play in the AHL under any circumstances if you play in the CHL.

@ Freudian, I see what you're saying now. Yea, looks like he was thinking "what's the pt of that?"

So they have $5'795'000 left in cap space with 22 bodies signed - seems not enough for Parise.

Someone will eventually be moved but also Salvador will likely be on LTIR so free up another 2.9m

Bryce Salvador is unlikely to play this year. He missed all of last year with a concussion. He will probably be put on LTIR or be waived and put in Albany. That would give the Devils enough to sign Parise.

Lou talks about the signing including how he doesn't believe in individual player bonuses

Thing is, most of the teams drafting that high and has had the chance to sign the player to a ELC with big bonuses, have not been anywhere near the cap. The three million figure on the cap hit is just on paper, I doubt many of the players that recieved those bonus contracts have actually reeled in a ton of extra money.

Lately, for teams such as Tampa, Edmonton, Islanders etc. that cap hit has not been an issue so why not? It's a decent carrot for the player after all. For NJ it obviously mattered with what the cap hit was and Adam accepeted that. Not a big deal the way I see it.
