Balej

What would it take for the Penguins to get Balej?

New Proposal:

To NYR: Matt Murley

To PIT: Josef Balej

Nothing cause Balej is the Rangers future. Wow what a joke of a proposal. How about this?

To NYR: Tomas Surovy and Josef Melichar

To Pens: Tom Poti

Better Proposal:

We keep Balej, you keep your players.... and we have a good old fashioned rivalry with our own players. Sound fun?

Balej is pretty much untouchable until we see what he can do over the course of a full season at the NHL level. Hypothetically, in terms of one for one deals you'd probably have to offer up somebody like Ryan Whitney. Fans of neither team would want to do that, so there's really no point.

Unless we can trade him for a LW with equal value, I don't see any good that can come out of moving him.

how about my proposal? Surovy is a scoring LW that we can use, and Poti is a young offensive dman that they can use.

That seems like decent trade but, Im not sure theyd give up Surovy though. Maybe theyd trade him and Murley for uh maybe Balej...

I don't really see a match for any trades between our respective organizations. They're both rebuilding franchises that want the same things: picks and prospects. Trades work when both teams want differant things that the other has.

Well,I really think It was a good deal fot both team, you guys got a verry good prospect who will be playing In the NHL really soon, and you also got a 2 round pick that could turn to be a pretty good player, but,us Habs fan got one of the best player In the NHL,that was also a big part of our playoff success,so overall,I would still do that deal because even If Kovy looks like he Is floating on the ice some night, you know like me that he Is the knid of player you always have to watch on the ice because he could explode everytime and score a big goal for your team, anyway that was a really good deal for both team

what do people foresee balej's future to be? i see he can skate quite well and has decent hands but i'm wondering what people think his upside is.

I'm glad that we traded Kovy, I thought that he was a complete @$$hole, and didn't try his hardest, not something I want on my team. Anyway, when we traded him, he was going to become an FA and leave. Better to get something for him than nothing.

No offense, but to us he was "garbage".

A HUGE contract.
******* about the team.
Blamed his STICKS for lack of scoring.
No accountability on his part.
Skated hard for maybe 5 minutes a game.

I'm glad you guys took him for what we got.

Balej is definitely going to be more of a sniper type. I think a good comparison would be someone like Valeri Bure. 30 goals and 60-75 points (very very nice player) is where I would place his high end potential. I think it would be wrong to rely on him to be the team's superstar go-to scorer, but he will be an awesome compliment to whoever that person might be.

yeah, i don't think we'll need to rely on him as the teams top scorer. if we fast forward a few years having a player like the one you describe would be a great compliment to guys like Jessiman, Korpikowski, and of course Crosby/Brule

I'm glad too because what we got in return, at least to me, is 10 times better. Not talent wise because Kovy, when his head is on straight, is amazing. But the person makes the player and Balej is a great guy. He works his ass off all the time and what I also love is he has good leadership qualities. He just has a great attitude about him. I'll take him on my team any day.
