Semin/Green

Correct me if I am wrong but with the capitals cap situation something has to give. What would the caps want?

If I were the caps I would not trade Green after last season, he is the best PP defenseman in the NHL. Injuries got to him.

They want relief from cap and Semin is clearly being rumoured so probably a less skilled winger and a pick in the 2nd- 4th range depending on the quality of the winger. Just a guess

green? with his lack of defense---for a defenceman--has very little trade value. if the guy was smart enough to skate as a wing he would have higher value. the only problem is....he aint that smart. he is quite possibly the DUMBEST hockey player ive ever seen.

semin? with only a one year contract? at almost 7 million? his trade value has to jump up about 5 notches just to get to zero. come on man....who the hell is going to give up anything of value for him? almost 7 million for a guy that only plays when HE wants to....

Send a message via MSN to thadd
Mcphee had an interview on That's Hockey(TSN) and he stated that they don't have any cap issues.

The Caps have been one of the best teams this summer at getting key holes filled with value contracts. They will be under the cap once the season starts and they can add Poti to the LTIR.

Good summer for GMGM.

BTW I am an Oiler fan, so this is from a fan of another team.

Washington won't trade either. Not after improving their team in other key areas this off-season. If Washington trades anyone it will be a bottom 6 player such as Jason Chimera.

Source spoke briefly with McPhee today, Semin and Green will not be moved. He feels team, and Boudreau, have one more year before shake ups.

A lot more than HFB realizes, and neither will be moved. As Caps fans have said all offseason.

Caps would be foolish to blow it up next offseason, even after another letdown. Tampa was probably the one team that they didn't want to see in the playoffs this year. They would've crushed Pittsburgh.

Of course, I couldn't care less what they do.

This whole trading Semin thing is not feasible at the moment.

You do not trade players you signed to a one year deal when they would have hit UFA otherwise unless they ask for a trade.
Sends a bad message to other players who you want to sign in the future in addition pisses off AO as he is good friends with Semin.

The Caps have their team set for the season. No need to make further adjustments unless injuries or unforeseable things happen.

The caps are going to take a run at it this year. They don't want/need to move pieces like Semin/Green.

The Laich and Ward signigns may bight them in the !@#@ next offseason, but that's another story.

I think we now know whos DUMBEST

and lol if he was smart he would play wing? have you ever watched him? most of his goals come from sneaking into wide open ice while the other team has been drawn towards the net and then being hit pass in the slot were he doesnt miss from. He is not a winger.

So he's more suited to Center?

I'd love to acquire either at any price not involving a core member of Vancouver.

Green would be amazing on our PP, an actual RH dman who's mobile enough while having a deadly shot.
Even acquiring Semin would be an interesting piece for Kesler's wing. Kesler is so good at doing the dirty work already, and Semin is just deadly with open space.
Hell, I'd even give Green the Dustin Byfuglien try on the wing for the PP.

Me too I would love to have both of them in the nucks.

So caps fans what would it take?
