Would you rather trade Schenn? If anyone says they would, they aren't smart. Schenn is ranked the top prospect in this league and I only put Sean in the first place because adding him gets us top notch talent. If you leave him out, you wouldn't get good value.

Couturier is going to be the best player from this draft. Do not want to trade him.
Id rather try and trade some pieces and picks at the deadline for Suter.

The Flyers won't be trading all these pieces in any moves like the OP has stated, sorry but it's not going to happen. As I showed in another thread, the Flyers will be able to resign all the RFA's they want next year, and re-up all their UFA's with the exception of Carle and they will STILL have roughly 9 mil to throw at Suter if/when he hits the open market. Suter will be far far better than anyhting we could get in a trade and all he'll cost us is cap space. After the 2012/13 season we will have another 15 mil or so with just a bottom pairing dman, a 2nd line winger, and a 3rd line winger needed to be added to the roster. Kevin Marshall show be ready for the NHL by then and if not then a cheap vet. That leaves tons of money to throw at any UFA wings we want.

Thus, there is no reason to throw away valuable assets for pieces you can readily add through free agency.

We have a nice young group up forwards to build around Giroux, JVR, Voracek, Schenn, and Couturier. All of their contracts won't be to big for another few years. If I was gonna trade anyone it would be a veteran player 30+, and if we don't look like we're going to have a chance at the cup before the trade deadline. Only trade the young guys if the price is RIGHT.

Sign and trades are extremely rare; it's a completely valid point to mention Yandle just recently being extended when talking about Phoenix trading him.
I'm not disagreeing with you Brian Boyle. SJGM definitely had no intent on trading Seto when he extended him. But if a trade is there to make his team better, then most GMs would probably cut a deal. And you know what a copycat league the NHL is. Although agreed, HIGHLY unlikely scenario.

Because Holmgren has developed an urge to exchange all the players he has for all the players he doesn't have...
