What I meant is that he hasn't played a significant period of time with any other player than Komisarek to prove that he makes any player better. Maybe Komisarek feeds from Markov's strenght more than most D-man would.
Wow... do you real believe that??
And while the answer to the question is a categorical 'No', you can always bet there will be a dissenter or two.
Komisarek back in Montreal? For that kind of money?? And people complain about what Gomez brings...
Markov, Subban, Gorges, Gill and Spacek are all clearly better than he is. Komisarek would be battling for the number 6 spot with a few other defencemen and it's far from certain that he's better than all of them are.
With a cap hit of 4.5M, you expect to get more than a number 6-7 defenceman. Even Gomez is better value for the money than Komisarek is.
By the way, some people seem to forget that Komisarek was less than stellar in his last season in Montreal. He's had three consecutive mediocre seasons now. He had one very good season prior to that, 2007-08, but was never anything special before that one. Komisarek was nothing more than a flash in the pan.
Komi was terrific with Markov, he has a bad contract but could be worth it IF he can regain his confidence under the guidance of Markov... For the record I am on the fence but
Komi 2 more years @ $4.5 mil
For
Spacek at $3.8 for 1 years
i wouldn't mind taking Komi back IF it meant getting rid of Gomez, but just Spacek... not enough I think.
at this point his play has dropped pretty significantly from the high-end of what he was for us, and while playing with Markov again might bring it back, if it didn't, he's a very overpaid bottom-pairing dman... same as Spacek but more expensive and with an extra year, so Toronto would have to considerably sweeten the deal
Perhaps if it were something like Komi+1st for Spacek, maybe even Komi+2nd...
Absolutely not. I'm sure he'd more than welcome it though
No way, he knows what we're made of, he'd never come back here. If he could go back in time, he wouldn't go to Toronto, and would leave for somewhere else.
He left after the darkest whatever of Gainey's memory. No other team offered him as much as Toronto. And about next year, with Subban and Price and their contracts, we can move Gomez, and there will be only one year remaining to Komisarek's contract, and next year's UFA crop is crap anyway. We have cap space, why not use it ? We need toughness, and if Komisarek rebounds, which is possible, he's supposed to be in his prime, we got ourselves a good deal. The Leafs sucks, that can't help him, too. I'd trade Komisarek for Spacek.
Don't scratch your head, he was the next Captain of the Habs & ran away. I don't buy the money thing! Burke isn't that great a seducer!
Seriously? How about the fact that Komisarek isn't a true fighter? Really, I mean, komisarek is a tough customer, it would be childish for me or anyone to say otherwise. Why do I bring this up? Look at moen, tough customer who turned into a relative cream puff on the habs. Zero support physically and I don't blame Komisarek for leaving. He's a tough guy who can't back it entirely up, being on a team that fits his style is a good thing for him, it just failed though. Honestly, traitor stuff is overrated. He left for a team he felt would be a better fit. He never asked for a trade, nor did he ever ***** when he was here. People need to get over it.

I'm usually fine with getting players back. Except when they go to division rivals. Komi, Ryder, Pouliot, Begin, Kovalev can all go **** themselves. I would have kept my respects for them if they had gone to any team except for division rivals. They can all DIACF for all I care. So in other words, no, I don't want scum in my team.

Well, good luck with that. Hope he becomes worth 5.5M he will be making after next season.
I'd rather just keep Spacek for the next season, like most other posters here. Atleast hes still useful in top 4 in case of emergency, when Komisarek isnt anything we couldnt get from free agent market now.
