Stephane Robidas

What would Dallas be looking for him? If he's even available.

Sure he's available, though he does have a NTC. 2nd line LW if you want to trade a roster player. Picks/prospects otherwise. Hopefully LW or C prospects.

Not even close.

Dallas would want a 1st at the very least.

If Robidas were to waive his NTC to NYI, would the Stars consider a Bailey for Robidas swap?

I'd have to say yes, they would. Can Bailey play (either) wing?

Benn goes nowhere. This thread is about Robidas.

The Stars wouldn't trade Benn to the Oilers for anything short of Hall or Nugent-Hopkins; even regarding the latter, I don't see the point in that trade from a Dallas perspective. The organization loves Benn, as they should. He's an excellent player; they'll be building around him.

Well if that's the case, that's a deal I'd be interested in. Bailey-Benn-Eriksson could be an intriguing 2nd line with significant potential. Those 2 existing players would benefit from someone who focuses more on the playmaking side of things.

Too bad we can't call up Nieuwendyk and Snow right now It would be a great trade for both teams. Robidas would be excellent with Streit and Bailey could end up finding his game in Dallas.

I highly doubt the stars would. However I would do that deal in a picosecond.

I would do this, and I'm pretty sure Dallas would as well. A line of Bailey-Benn-Eriksson would be nice.

Btw, what's the deal with Bailey? He was a top 10 pick in 2008. Has his development regressed due to rushing him into the NHL.

I'd include picks from both sides to make it more fair.

I'm pretty sure there was a huge loss of confidence last season. Nielsen definitely overshadowed him too with better defensively play and playing with Grabner. He has shown flashes of greatness, though. He has some great playmaking abilities and a nice wrist shot (which he rarely uses). Rushing didn't help him either. A change of scenery can really help his confidence.

Also, with the addition of Ryan Strome, I think Bailey's time is almost done.

With Dallas now in almost-full rebuild mode, Bailey seems like a medium-risk, good potential guy to fill out the 2nd or 3rd line, id love to see this trade haha

Is NYI in need of a vet d?

Well the thing is I just think the Dallas organization has a very overblown view of Robidas and they're not really willing to enter a true rebuild mode. The other thing which could be an issue is im not sure dallas could afford the difference in salary between the two players. They are right above the capfloor now and I think the trade would likely put them under.

From an outsiders perspective I think the Isles are better off just waiting and developing. They may have rushed Bailey but hopefully it hasnt completely stunted his offensive development. The isles seem to have built up good prospect pools over the years but never held onto them and I think its finally time they stay the course.

I think Robidas has more value than Bailey. 2nd and prospect gets added.

Huge need. Streit needs a d-partner and we need to make a playoff push.

Our prospect center depth is very deep right now. Trading Bailey would be okay in order to fit a need in a veteran defenseman. Strome should be ready for the 12-13 season, so Reasoner can be our #3 center this season and keep Strome's spot warm.

I would add a 2nd and an okay prospect, nobody special. Probably someone like Aaron Ness.

That's not even remotely accurate. There are obvious arguments for and against them actually doing this, but there is absolutely no indication they will any time soon or that they are currently rebuilding.

A full rebuild would indicate they were dumping veteran assets. They added those players this summer preventing young players from likely making the roster. That's the exact opposite of a full rebuild.

Regarding whether or not Robidas is available, I believe he would be. It's doubtful Dallas rolls with 4 smaller D, and Philip Larsen is pushing for an NHL roster spot. Trevor Daley just got a big deal, and the team appears to be committed to Alex Goligoski.

Stephane Robidas appears to be the most logical piece to move in the next year or so. I don't know that he's a piece they'd move right this moment though.

Im just not clear on what Robidas is going to do for the Isles. He's 34 years old with a few years left on his contract. He plays a physical style where he throws and recieves alot of hits which doesnt really lend itself to longevity. I don't ever see him being an important contributor to a good Isles team.
