I'm surprised with the avalanche of signings in the past hour. Parrish then Gagne then Branko then Fischer and now Nagy.

Pretty darn good deal for a player who could easily be top 15 or 20 in scoring each year.

I think he could breach the top 10. He was on pace for 78 points this season, and that was without Mike Johnson.

Excellent point! Nice going Barnett! 6 more RFA's to go!

Question the Coyotes asset management or drafting ability all you want, but outside of Brian Savage (and to a lesser extent Tony Amonte), they are tops in the league at getting guys signed, especially their own.

And the Yotes will be fine...

They are so lucky to have been able to unload Amonte's contract onto the Flyers, not to mention Burke's contract as well. Burkey just wasn't as good as he was when the Yotes last made the playoffs a couple of years ago. Smart move to have dumped the 4 plus million on his final year.

I think we're all still questioning the Wheeler selection at #5 mainly due to the fact that they could have acquired additional draft picks by simply moving down a few slots, but oh well....

Main question for the Yotes is whether either Johnson or Boucher will ever regain the form that they first displayed when they arrived onto the NHL scene. It's been over 3 years for Boucher and at least 2 for Johnson. LeNeveu is waiting in the wings, but will need at least 1 more season in the AHL, so you gotta think it's make or break for one of those 2 guys whenever the NHL season resumes.

i still think johnson is a very mediocre player, but nagy is excellent. nice signing, and he should threaten the 40 goal mark if healthy (and a full season, CBA-willing)

Who thinks that the Hull rumours encouraged Nagy to hurry up and sign? While I don't suggest Hull was meant to replace Nagy, he would have put the Coyotes in a slightly better position to walk or play hardball if Nagy went through arbitration.

I hadn't considered that...that might be the case. I doubt it though. Yotes management may have their faults at times, but playing games isn't one of them. I think Hull might be the one using the Coyotes as leverage in his deal with the Stars, if anything.

Actually I think its quite a fair deal. He has only had 3 good seasons. Compare this contract to a guy like Richards who many people said was overpaid and yet he is only 500K more BUT has had many more higher productive seasons. I think this contract for Nagy is fair.

You think so?

If I'm Martin Havlat's agent, I'm going f'ing bananas.

I believe Nagy could have quite reasonably asked for up to $3.2 million or so.

Speaking of Richards, his final year in that 3 year deal is 4.25 million. I wonder if Nagy's contract is similarly structured, as in considerably higher the second year of the contract?

Hmm I predicted somewhere between 1.8 to 2.0 million.

Bear in mind Nagy consciously decided to accept this offer rather than go to arbitration so he must have not been confident his numbers and agent would earn him even more. Its still a very healthy raise on the 1 mill he was getting.
