Who was that last dman we signed that everyone penciled in to our lineup but never played a game for us?

This happens everytime we sign someone.

I believe so, but that agent was not the guy who negotiated his NHL deal. That honor belongs to none other than Don Meehan.

I hope both Diaz & Emelin will be playing in the game in Halifax. I'd love to watch both of them play.

I'll admit, I never really saw Switzerland as a hockey country until I started watching them internationally. Without star power they were still able to content against the top teams, and they play a smart defensive game.

Anyway, it would be nice to have the support of a whole country with this team, then maybe in the future the habs could start the season in Switzerland like other teams have done in other countries the past couple seasons.
Not a bad idea at all, the Penguins, the Blackhawks and most recently the Bruins all opened their seasons in Europe on their way to Stanley Cup victories...

Excuse some of us for being optimists. I realize that some people believe way too much in our prospects, but that doesn't mean that by default they won't pan out. Diaz is a good prospect and he was a solid signing who has a chance to crack the line-up in the near future. Just like Engqvist was a good signing who has a good chance to make the team as the 4th line C.

Exactly! And it's great for both our development system and Europe's.

If you've noticed, they have all been American teams. God forbid we promote our Canadian teams (Vancouver should've been in Sweden with their twins, Ehrhoff, etc).

I agree. Already he has been heard sending messages to Markov, Gorges, Subban and Gill about how good-looking they are, how interesting, how talented and how funny too! He wasn't sure if Emelin counted as core, so apparently Diaz only praised Yemelin's beard and his Mom.

Also the last time the Habs won the Cup, they started the exhibition season in Europe.

Even the NHL is conspiring against the Habs by not sending them in Europe and thus not winning the 25th Cup!

Valid point. His points were obviously inflated there. He almost scored at a ppg pace. That equals out to about 40-50 points in his prime in the NHL, if all goes well.

Since when is Ehrhoff Swedish? He's German.

The English Wiki article on him states he's an American-born Mexican player of Galician Spanish background, who played in Switzerland and represents Switzerland?

How did anyone come up with that?

Last year Glen Metropolit was playing for the Swiss team Zug..Diaz,after signing with the Habs,Metropolit mentioned somewhere in the media that Habs fans will love Diaz..
He says Diaz has a cannonball slapshot from the point...

I don't think Glen mentioned it, I believe Glen stated it.

He has, but I still believe Nino will top Streit's career once both of them have retired.

P.S. I'm only partly biased by the fact that Niederreiter is a Habs fan...

First Price, then Subban and now, Diaz! This will be an expensive off-season next year for the Habs!
