Everything pointed to the Calder Cup win being the high-point of Daugavins' life. Even after that run, he was still fat. I think he plays a few years in Latvia and then retires. You can have all the skill in the world (Pavel Brendl) and still not succeed because you're fat and lazy.
In the end, this will make no difference to the Ottawa Senators franchise.
Yeah, like I posted in the Bingo thread, it's just a try-out contract so he can legally train with Dinamo Riga. He'll be coming to Ottawa's camp in August, after which he'll decide where to spend the season.
Give me KDaug over Winchester any day of the ****ing week. Great locker room guy, full of energy, has much much more skill, coming off a cup win, instant chemistry with some of the Bingo guys like Greening and Condra where Winchester's chemistry is with the boards in Scotiabank place where he likes to cycle the puck until he eventually loses it then blames it on the boards.
I wish he would have gotten a better chance to play in the NHL with a different organization, because he deserves it as he's obviously a great guy who works his ass off.
This is what happens when you win the Calder Cup. Guys do well, but dont have a place on the NHL team, so they move on. They get attention, offers and the idea that they can do better, deserve better.
If your Daugavins or any of our other AHL guys who split, and you just won the Calder but have no chance at the big club, moving on is logical.

He also became a godly PK player
vs the three players who got a shot in the NHL last year

Condra 24Yrs old

Butler 23Yrs old

I'm sure in Daugavins head he is thinking he is younger and better then those three yet they got NHL ice time and one way deals...
So in his head he's thinking, hmm.. these guys paid their dues for several years, and were rewarded with an extended opportunity in the NHL. Next year is a rebuilding year for the Sens. There are several unproven, waiver eligible players. I am one the best amongst that group. I should go to Latvia.

Logicing, like a boss.
500K in the NHL > 500K in the KHL >>>>> 65K in the AHL
if he does not believe he is getting a fair shot even though he has shown his worth on the Calder Cup run, makes sense to go for the money.

Yep, sure, but if he thinks he is better like you say and looks at all the factors I just laid out, I would assume he would assume he is better served taking his chances for a year.
