I'm far from convinced myself, but I'm willing to give him the chance. Seems like the best of mediocre options.

Hey Devils fans, Pens fan coming in peace. Are you guys happy with this announcement? I thought for sure that Therrien would have been the next head coach of the Devils. He could have worked well with them, he's used to coaching a team with 2 young superstars surrounded by young and veteran talent.

I know we fired him, but our losing streak wasn't all his fault, the Pens weren't playing well and they needed a spark. I think that Therrien deserved a second chance behind the bench. In my opinion, I think he would have been a better option than DeBoer, who hasn't proved much with Florida.

Anyone else think Therrien would have been a better fit for your team?

Nope. Not at all.

I don't like Therrien, never have. DeBoer is a guy I'm not confident in - yet - but I'd have actively disliked Therrien.

I was against Therrien when the rumors began, and my reasons for it are well documented.

I like the hiring, but it remains to be seen how well he can do.

Therrien's best years in the NHL were with a Hart/Vezina goalie and with Crosby/Malkin.

I feel like with Thierren, nothing would have changed. We'd be a good team, not great, and struggle come playoff time.

With DeBoer, I feel like we have potential to be great, but also potential to be terrible. I don't think DeBoer is the safest coaching pick, but maybe that's a good thing. A nice change of pace to what we've done since the beginning of eternity. If the players can buy into his game despite being only a few years younger then him, I believe we can do some real damage in the NHL.

I think the Pens had the same chances of terrible/great with Bylsma, and he's 3 years younger than Pete. Granted they're talented as hell, but I think we have the same potential.
