I definitely wanted a guy with experience, but someone who wasn't a re-tread. DeBoer seems to fit the bill in that regard. And he's someone who is relatively young. MacTavish was my first choice, but I think this could end up being a very savvy hire. For him to get what he did out of Florida in 3 years (nearly a .500 record with mediocre talent at best) speaks for itself. Let's hope this is the coach who can stick around for a while and lead us to some playoff success.

DeBoer will replace the term Home Run in the American lexicon.

Too many "rookies" on PP2, IMO. Might have to switch Zajac and Palmieri, or something.

Yeah, I agree. It's more of a depth chart at this point.

I also think Clarkson will be the RW on the PP2.

We have too many players right now. I can see Zubrus being traded, for better or worse. I really want Zharkov to be a regular player, but I can't see a spot for him as it stands. I'm also thinking Henrique will make a big push for a spot. Lou has a lot of work left to do. I don't envy his situation. When's training camp?? Ha

Take out Napalm and put in either Zubrus or Clarkson for the front of the net.

Let Yayo run the PP from the side boards

2 PK
Elias - Parise .... U could put Boulton or Zubrus if u wanted to rest one
Volch - Greene

To all that are still on the fence. LOOK WHAT HE HAD TO WORK WITH IN FL. Now look at what he has to work with here.

There are a couple of us who do think that, but I am not one of them. Therrien and Hitchcock were the two guys I really didn't want.

Exactly. DeBoer has the fresh face, but also some experience. He has an offensive system, but won't neglect defence. I think he's a good fit.

Talent will not rescue us from coaching ineptitude, we learned that the hard way with MacLean. Now, presumably DeBoer is a more competent coach, but we'll see the results on the ice.

I hope he's the one to stop the coaching carousel.

Did we really fill that last one already?

This reminds me of trading stuff, everyone was high on maclean last year and it got shorted and crashed. Still in the middle for deboer so there's atleast some likelihood of a bullish sentiment

He can't possibly be worse than MacLean. It's an easy act to follow.

Between Volchenkov and Greene, they blocked over 260 shots combined last year

I'd even be a fan of Volchenkov and White on the first PK because of how well they played together last season

I keep hearing people say that but you have to understand that there are a whole other set of challenges that go with coaching players like what we have here...He has never had to deal with players like we have here...

I think things can go well for him immediately if captures the attention of the right players. I hope he's already made those phone calls and had lengthy discussions with key players.

I hear you, but also keep this in mind as something potentially good aboud him....

We have a fair ammount of kids in the lineup between Palmieri, Tedenby, Josefson, and possibilities of Larsson, Fayne, Tao and maybe even a few others throughout the season......DeBoer had good success with Kitchner coaching some of the better talent that has come out of that league the past number of years, so I'd like to think that it shows he can work well with the kids also

Excited to see what he can do with us. I think its a good fit but only time will tell. I wanted him over re-treads like Hitch Carbo and Therrien though.

You're not alone. Kovy should be there and Elias should be on the right side to set him up.

I'm convinced that DeBoer will be great for us. I'm sure that he will do well with the rookies coming up, since he had success with Kitchener. My main concern is that he won't be able to grab the attention of Kovy... even though DeBoer praises him for having his head "in the right place." On the bright side, though, DeBoer seems like the type of guy that will put an end to the seemingly-never-ending coaching carousel we've witnessed.

I feel like Kovy would be most effective on the wing, or near the top of the circle. Stamkos plays at the top of the circle, and he is Tampa's go-to guy for a one-timer rocket. Kovy could easily get 15-20 PPG's if DeBoer puts him in the right spot.
