Rangers shopping Zuccarello?

Are there any truth to this? And, what is the opinion of the fans? Stay or ok, go?

I'd like to keep MZA. But if the right offer comes along I wouldn't hesitate to trade him.

Do not trust the source but I could see it being a possibility.

They should give him another season. Lots of offensive skill, he just need some time to bulk up and become a little bit faster on the skates. Maybe easier said than done?

New York Rangers are shopping Mats Zuccarello. No word on why or to who, but itís a whisper going around that has caught some attention recently."

I wasn't really impressed by him outside of shootouts. I really don't mind that we're shopping him but I wonder what teams would be interested, if any?

How much value could they get for him? If I'm another team, my logic would be, "The Rangers need offensive players, so why are they giving up on MZA?" Then I would give at most a low-ball offer. It's different for proven players since teams are familiar with them, but when it comes to rookies with a limited reputation, you normally get low value in trades.

You have to assume that the Rangers gave up on Zuccarello if they are willing to deal him for something like a second round pick.

Whatever. Theres a logjam at forward and, while skilled, he wasnt really impressive last season.

He needs to get stronger and I dont know if he can with that build.

If someone is willing to give us more than he's worth, I'd do it. Otherwise I'd hang on to him. His boom potential is high enough that I'd like to see what kind of progress he makes.

Considering Zucc's upside, I think it would be there would be greater value in keeping him around than trading him for a stupid draft pick or some bottom 6 player. Unless he is packaged in a deal that brings in a top 6 forward, or he himself brings us a top 6 forward (highly unlikely) then it would make sense to move him.

Bold: well said
Underline: that, or they want to scrap up every once of cap.

While undersized and that has another set of issues, the key real key is skating speed.
He probably has a good enough shot, and he's obviously got tremendous moves.
But he needs the better part of a step to get separation to make those moves and that shot truly effective.

Whether he stays or goes, I wish him the best.

To be brutally honest, I'd be surprised if he were able to bring back ANY NHL player.

I don't buy it. It's the dog days of summer. People need something to write about.

Yeah, you'd have to think a "fair" return for him would probably be a mediocre draft pick or a 4th liner at best.

Well I mean, he did score 23 pts in 42 games, roughly ~45 points in a full season. I don't think he would fetch a top 6er (no chance) but I could see him bringing back a 3rd or 4th liner. The Rangers would probably have to throw in a draft pick, but like I said it makes more sense to keep him.

Never heard of this site, so I doubt it's legit.

That being said, it's kind of amusing to watch so much negativity surrounding this kid. If he was a Rangers draftee, people would be thrilled with how he performed this season and what he could potentially bring to the table.
