Definitely the guy had a set back last year (so hard to evaluate on the point per game expectations some would like to see)

He is worthy of being a 1st round pick and was considered for a while that. He's in that Mike Richards, Ryan Kesler mould and so you have to wait with these type of prospects.

I totally agree, he started out slow with Tigers but came on strong as the season progressed. Before he was injured he was playing on the #1 PP line, this kid has skill and wheels. He'll play another year with the Tigers but at center.

My pick would be Lander. He's going to be a good NHL player, but not for a least another year. Still has to learn the North American game and how to play as a checking center in the bigger rinks.

Hamilton is project to be a third line checking forward, but has possibilities to be a good 2nd line power forward. Anything he is underrated, the only question with him is the injury factor. He had some injuries before he was drafted which resulted in him dropping in the draft, he could of been a high 1st round draft pick at one time.

Lander. Although he's going to be a solid NHL 3rd liner, probably, he has virtually no upside past that and we ranked him higher than Pitlick and Hamilton who do have top 6 upside.

most people expect him to be back in juniors next year despite being the first over all pick... when was the last time that happened? There's no way that he's the oilers most over rated prospect.

Petry. I've seen people call him a future top pairing guy...looks like Gilbert 2.0 to me.

That's why he's overrated. To me, he's Brodziak 2.0... nice player, but not a prospect to gush over.

Who know how he'll be in the pros against men? Could be Cornet, Kytnar, VV, O'Marra... hyped but failed to produce results.

If you didn't know him, it's because you didn't have a good grasp of the players in that draft.
Ah ok, #50 is early 2nd round for you.

I think he is a 50 point player at best.

This^

The moves he was using in the SEL wrapping around the net and getting any space don't work in the NHL. To his detractors though at the end of the year, he wasn't afraid of the physical side, and he needs to play with that same spirit.

What's wrong with that? Despite his misgivings, Gilbert is a solid top 3 defender I would say.

Gilbert is a top 3 defender at times, other times he shouldn't be a top 8 in the league. He can be great, and atrociously bad.

Huh???

I'm Surprised this isn't a runaway for Roy. Billed as a future number one then fails miserable at WJHC. I'm thinking there are alot of personal opinions/agendas clouding this poll.

No, he said early. After my response that he wasn't a consensous early 2nd round pick he answered that I am crazy and didn't follow the pre draft lists, and that he of course was a early-mid 2nd round pick.
And not even that he was.
When he wants to take the 4 named lists as example he was #50. That is middle to late 2nd round pick.
In Mckenzie's list I think he wasn't even listed, or in the HM as 60-80.

How does a thread based solely on personal opinion get clouded by personal opinion?

Its an overrated prospect poll. I see people even voting for Bunz to be a higher potential goalie.

Bunz may be overrated by people like me because I see a #1 goalie and at least top 10 in the league goaltender. This kids personality is very similar to Cam Ward. Last year his development took some leaps.

I guess it's safe to say that this year's winner is Anton Lander, unless there's a huge influx of votes...

Which is a bit odd considering how Lander looked at development camp. Hamilton got my vote, the kid is a poor skater, poor puck handler and have problems taking directions from the trainer. This is of course based on a very very very small sample of video and has nothing todo with reality but compared to Lander he looks like nothing. Admitely this was probably the first time i actually felt a bit impressed with Lander but the difference between him and Hamilton is huge, and people calling Hamilton as a second liner hahahaha ... I pick Hartikainen anytime before Hamilton.

Pitlick, i never seen. He is also a highly thought of prospect on these boards but im starting to wonder why. Anyway, based on "nothing" Hamilton got my vote. Cheers!!!!

i guess if you go by the poll above, all of our top prospects, except for Bunz and Hamilton are overrated. if true, it doesn't bode well for the future does it?
