Ribeiro has played wing on occasion but he's WAY more valuable at center. He's a playmaker.

I think they would be way more interested in Grier.
But wouldnt it be a waste of time for montreal to use a good player like bonk on the 3rd line...maybe they should put him as a first or second line winger???

actually Patrick probably isn't a bad idea for us.

we need a veteran #7 guy, who won't be getting too many games... would be nice to have an experienced player in that role to help out in the dressing room too.

with the top 6 we have though, they are all fairly young, and can log lots of minutes, so the #7 would be ideal as a veteran player nearing the end of his career... like Begervin was for us last year.

What about Curtis Leschyshyn?

would be interested in him too, if we could get him cheap.

not sure what his status is... he's listed as no salary in nhlpa.com, so either he's a UFA or a RFA.... as a RFA, I don't think the canucks would have any interest - salary is too high to qualify for a #7 guy, and getting a part time veteran in the #7 role isn't worth giving up assets for.

as a UFA though I'd definitely be interested... that is if he's interested in playing in a #7 role and not complaining about getting more icetime.

my guess though is that if he's a UFA, he'll still want to be part of a top 6 somewhere, and might have another couple years left in his tank to play that role.

edit: considering he'll be 35 in a month, he won't be a RFA...

While Curtis Leschyshyn would be the perfect #7 guy in Vancouver, he'd also be perfect in that role in Ottawa. He will undoubtibly take a big paycut (mae 2mil$ last year) but I guess it'll come town to what team is ready to pay more for a #6 #7 dman... and there are other teams than Ottawa and Vancouver where Leschyshyn would fit right in.
