We wouldn't have to. We might be able to fit him under the cap if we put Raymond on LTIR, but then someone might have to go when Raymond comes back.

Or we could trade someone for a draft pick/prospect prior to the start of the season to be under the cap.

Definitely would do Schroeder + 1st

Habs offer:

2012 1st
Danny Kristo
Andrew Conboy/Ian Schultz.

Andrew Conboy is the only good thing to come out of the Ribeiro deal for the habs.

you cant take all of the valuable pieces out of the offer and expect it to get the job done...

essentially you just proposed:

Raymond (LTIR) <-- HE'S ON LTIR! he doesnt do much in a trade
Schroder - good but not great prospect, not your top prospect arguably your second prospect but rodin, suave connauton all there (only thing of true value in the offer)
late 2nd and some crap 4th or 5th that holds no value
crap prospect

is the trash can all these guys come in included or do you take that back to couver with you?

ill admit i dont think hes worth that first offer at face value, although all things considered he is dallas's captain, their heart and soul. they arent going to just give him away because he could help another team.

now i think any deal would have to start with hodgson. from there on i have no idea

Not a Stars fan.

Seriously, another R-handed RW? Schroeder can play center too, but his size is just pathetic for a centerman. He'd be better off on the wing. GMJN stated he wants larger centerman (hence... Benn shifting from wing to the middle.)

This is why I made my proposal as such. Knowing Dallas would value Morrow as we value Kesler in Vancouver, giving him up for a -A prospect, a late first and a 50 point LW isn't the greatest package as seen by a Dallas Fan's perspective.

The Stars would be better of finding him a home in the East, because he'll come back next year to play you guys 4 times, instead of once or twice that season.

If the Schroeder offer was actually from a Stars' fan, I'd be willing to swap him in for Cody, and rework the proposal.

As a Canucks fan, I'd do that.
With Raymond on LTIR we could easily fit in a 4.1mil salary amd still have over 1mil in cap space; see my line-up below. When Raymond comes off LTIR, there's a good chance one of our other guys could be down. Even if they aren't, we can fit Raymond in under the cap if we carry a 21 man roster. Obviously we wouldn't want to do that long term, but we could do it in the short term if we had to.

i dont know what Dallas' needs are but probably defense and a top 6 forward

so Franson/Gunnarsson + Lupul + McKegg

a young top 4 dman
a good 2nd liner (a bit overpaid, but not by much)
a very solid forward prospect (possibly future top 6er)
or we could keep the youth this team is not quite at the point where we should be dealing picks and prospects unless of course it brings in a #1 center 27 or younger

I wouldn't wanna trade Morrow for anything, IMO Morrow is one of the best Stars player this franchise ever had. One of the hardest working player we've had and shows heart every game.

Would love to see him retire as a Star

Canucks fans actually think Raymond and Schroeder have value in a proposal like this?

^^ Well it depends on a few developments on the Stars end.

If the ownership situation has negative developments early in the season and the Stars are doing awful, when Raymond becomes healthy and plays 10 or so games to get back to speed, he'll have value in a trade for Morrow. Young, blazing fast left-winger to replace Morrow's loss on the depth chart (I am NOT saying he replaces exactly what Morrow brings). Add a blue-chip prospect to that deal (Hodgson) and it's not a bad proposal. Or lesser prospects + picks.

Or instead of Raymond, Samuelsson.

I agree, it's not like a 25 year old forwards who scored over 50 points just two years ago have any value. And prospects like Schroeder give me a break, no value whatsoever. Funny part of all the post is coming from a Leafs fan, your fan base surely knows what value is!

I would offer up a combination of the Stars choosing:

Any three of: Mikael Samuelsson, Max Lapierre, Jordan Schroeder, any future or former draft pick from the second round or later.

Or

Any two of: Mason Raymond, Jannik Hansen, Cody Hodgson, 2012 1st round pick, Chris Tanev.

Or

One of the latter group and two of the former provided one of them is Raymond or Samuelsson.

I can't think of too many combinations of those assets that wouldn't be worth dealing for Morrow.

What you said was just as offensive and irrational. I'm sorry I can't base the whole Leafs fan base on a couple of idiots, some Leafs fans are actually very knowledgeable, and non-homers, so again I'm sorry.

I would punch a baby to see Morrow in Washington. Sadly I don't think the Caps have quite what the Stars would be looking for. The safe C prospect and picks are there, but the replacement roster player is not, unless you're willing to take Chimera as the replacement (along with another bottom-6 roster player, say Hendricks or similar).

On a side note, I really thought Morrow was a member of the crease-violation-Cup team.
