Im looking to start a fantasy pool this year with some friends. Just wondering if anyone could PM me with some recommendations of where I could find a good pool manager online, free or paid or even good way to do it not on the internetz. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Just picked up the Forecaster - they did it again. Such in depth analysis. Their breakdown by position and analysis is a golden read. I just love the features they have.

They shoot a bit high on some projection - THN always a bit low....so you got to use your knowledge to balance things out.

Very very rough on my Sens as they call for last in the Notheast again and 14th...yes 14the in the Eastern conference. The Sens will be anywhere from challenging for 8th, to being a bubble team in 10/11. No way in hell they finish that low....not with a team that has Spezza, Karlsson, a healthy Alfie, a healthy Michalek, Anderson, and possible breakthroughs from Butler, Filatov and the emergence of Rundblad. Just silly.

Next up has got to be Dobber. Anyone know when that releases? And like another poster asked, when is Hockey The Magazine? If I'm tore through all the other mags and got 10 bucks to burn I usually grab it.
Oh and THN Yearbook comes in the mail soon

Dobber has been out for quite some time, relatively speaking.

I just got the The Sports Forecaster one and the THN one. Haven't looked at either yet. I'm going camping tomorrow and want to read them then. I don't even do much fantasy hockey but it's cool to see what players are projected to get and stuff.

PS I live in BC about a 1 hour radius of Vancouver. I think they ship from the east to the west. So I think every canadian provence should have them. I got it a Save on Foods

checked in Edmonton and couldn't find it yesterday, I think Alberta gets it after EVERYONE else, same for Saskatchewan, we just got THN on Wednesday, so the forecaster will take a while.

Weird. I think B.C. is the same size (Population). And Alberta should have more cuz u have 2 hockey teams. I'd try in two days or tommorrow. Have just seen about little bit of the Forecaster one. It looks AMAZING compared to the THN one. The THN one does just one page (Not double sided) for each team while the Forecaster does 4 pages (Not double sided).

The price difference isn't much

Forecaster: around $12.00 (Including tax, remember BC taxes)

THN: around $9.00 (Including tax)

This is by far and away the worst of the magazines that are available every year.

You can't go wrong with The Forecaster or McKeen's, but Hockey the Magazine and the THN Pool Guide are just useless. At least the latter could provide you with some reading content I guess.

Online, everybody is usually aware of Dobber, but there are a few others out there that actually provide some good stuff too. I do believe though if you are looking for prospect info, then you have to go with Dobber.

Found the THN one in Saskatoon. Predicting 86 points for Duchene? Yikes.

Anyone know anything about the Fantasy Hockey Standard guide? It's on the original list, but nobody has said anything about it...?

It says it's 240 pages (the Hockey News and Forecaster are like 150, Dobber is 80-100 I think?) and it comes in a hard copy apparently. I usually buy all the mags anyway, so I'm thinking of giving it a shot.

Just got mine in the mail today. Subscribers get it all this week while newsstands get it by the end of the week and early next week. I live in Ottawa and was surprised to get it today as I wasn't expecting it until later in the week. Where are you located? Look for it any day now.

Same old cover for Ontarioans, for like the 8th straight year they go with a Leaf as they main feature and title (Reimer) with a small photo and headline on the Sens stating they are in full rebuild mode and a pic of Spezza.

They call for the Sens to finish 15th- dead last in the East. That's just pathetic, there are definitely a few teams worse than the Sens and they could hang around for the final playoff spot. As if THN thinks the Isles, Panthers, Jets and Leafs are all bettter.

I got mine yesterday also, very good read. I don't like how they organizd it this year. I prefer the alphabetical way not the conference way of doing it.

CBS has all of their outlooks and predictions, although I dont agree with a lot of them, I believe their top ranked center is Stamkos.

The best sources are those that back up their predictions with some reason. THN has such a brief blurb about each player, that it's not worth it. McKeen tends to write the most about each player - very in depth on player style and attributes, it's an interesting read even if you're not a poolie and just a fan. The Forecaster and CBS are similar as they write good chunks on most players, but most of it is very obvious or fluff. Dobber highlights a couple of players per team, but provides short tidbits that are actually based on stats (not just hunches) for most players you would choose.

Extra pros: McKeen and Dobber predict power play line ups.
CBS predicts all stats (not just points)... although I think a lot of these predictions (including their points predictions, with the exception of the elite players) are based on the numbers from previous seasons and not other factors like changes to linemates / team.
Forecaster has a "Forecaster Value" for each player that sorts each player into a tier - very good for a quick reference even if you don't agree.
Dobber factors in keeper potential / long-term upside.

Many have already said Forecaster over-estimates, but also I think Dobber tends to over-estimate predictions for younger players and defensemen.
