I'm looking for a really good fantasy hockey magazine, that shows good outlooks on players' point projections, and brief descriptions on players. Also good descriptions on top rookies and goalies. I tried Mckeens last year and it was good but it also wasn't fully updated on which teams some players are on, but it was good for brief descriptions on some players and rookies. Do most hockey magazines have updated rosters before the season starts or are most of them generally somewhat late a little? I'd really appreciate some good opinions since I have a keeper pool and a regular yahoo pool. Thank you.

I buy all the magazines I can get my hands on and I've pretty much seen them all. I've always liked Forecaster usually, while THN sucks, and Mckeens is alright for their profiles. I've also bought Dobber (pretty good), Fantasy Hockey Scouts (decent), and Fantasy Hockey Coach (not bad), and this year I bought Fantasy Hockey Standard (outstanding).
For keepers, probably Dobbers is best, Mckeens and Forecaster are good too. For one year leagues, Fantasy Hockey Standard is the best and it blows away the others for yahoo stuff. The other guides don't even talk about yahoo, but they really go deep into it and the guide is the thickest of any. I'm surprised it isn't getting more love. Guess maybe it's just new.

Is the Fantasy Hockey Standard shelved in stores? Or do you need to order it online? I may give it a go.
The thing I like best about Dobber is it's continually updated as things change. Every printed guide has information that is out of date by the time it hits the shelves on the West coast.

As far as I know it's only online. I ordered on a Sunday, got it on Wednesday, so it was fast though. And I got an email from the guys that run it when it was sent, which was a nice touch, good service.
I like that they rank all the players in order instead of alphabetical, more like a fantasy football mag. And they talk about yahoo scoring stats quite a bit in the profiles, which is nice cause the other guides pretty much ignore yahoo. There's a couple of articles that had me laughing so hard too, and they say some stuff that pushes the edge way more than the other guides, it's pretty funny. Also some of the best strategy articles I've ever seen. Overall it's a really thick guide and the profiles are prolly the best of any magazine. I'll give it a 9 out of 10 cause I wish it had more prospects and stuff, but they do have a rookie section that's pretty good if you need a guy who's a rook this year.
If you saw it in a store it would kill the others when you pick it up and look at both. I have forecasters and THN in front of me and the fantasy hockey standard one is close to double as heavy and thick. They def take more of a one year approach though, but if you bought Fantasy Hockey Standard and Dobber you'd be covered for everything. The other guides are lagging behind.
Has anyone purchased McKeen's in the West yet? If yes, where
Everyone out west needs to email McKeens to let them know that it is garbage to not have it out a week after it is available in other areas. Our money not good enough.
It's the magazine distributor that is responsible for the delay. There's not much that Mckeen's can do (other than change distributor). Once the mag is printed and is in the hands of the distributor, the magazine ends up at different outlets/cities based on the distribution schedule.

I guess thats what they have to do not exclude Western fans.
Has anybody found McKeen's in Calgary yet? If yes, where?
Hard to believe that 16 days after McKeens is available in Hamilton there is no sign of McKeens in the West. WOW Distributor problems or not that is very bad.
