Well, at least he will make the horrible Vs and Nbc broadcasts that much more bearable. Doc is an awesome announcer, I'm sure you guys will miss him a lot.
He's quite possibly one of the nicest, most humble legendary figures to ever be associated with this great game. Personally, I've enjoyed several small quick chats with him. I hope his slowing down will lead him to be able to stick to it for many more years.

I'm glad we had Doc for the time that we did. Pure class, quick wit, and always has a great sense of humor. A sad day for Devils fans to say the least.
I'm definitely hoping Loughlin takes over instead of Cangy.
Just wait until Marty retires. That's coming soon too, ya know. They were showing us this as being a possibility all last year. I kept commenting on it being weird that he wasn't there. All makes sense now, ya know.
this is how Rangers fans felt with JD left. Doc might be best play-by-play guy in NHL modern history (post expansion) but John Davidson was greatest color guy. Hope he comes back if Blues get rid of him, maybe Lou can hire him to replace Chico...
Wow, well that is depressing. I suppose we should have seen it coming.
It's been great to have Doc for as long as we did, he was always a pleasure to listen to but I suppose he deserves this. He's put his time in, let him enjoy getting older and a lighter schedule.
Not even going to bother discussing replacements right now, cause I don't even know who I'd want at this present time. Only one thing left to do, WIN IT ALL just so we can hear Doc call some Devils games again.
