To Philly:

Matt Moulson
Evgeni Nabokov
1st round pick in 2012 or Calvin De Hann

To Isles:
Kimmo Timonen
Sergei Bobrovski

This should bring some nice arguments....

Really?

So Moulson and a first or de Hann is worth more than Timonen and Bobrovski? Nabokov does not hold any value to the Isle....he won't play.

Timonen is great, but on the decline. We have no room for Bobrovsky. Moulson is untouchable. Bad proposal.

Yes a 30 goal scorer whos is best friends with our star player and a first is better than an average declining defenseman and an average goalie means nothing to the isles

thats pretty awful for the islanders, they have plenty of young goaltenders, maybe not as one as hyped as Bob but its not worth trading all that for him and an aging defenseman

I'd do it from a Flyers fan POV. I like Kimmo, but he's getting older and only has two years left on his contract. Nabakov can back up Bryz for cheaper than Bob. Moulson would be a nice addition on the wing. I'd take the 1st rounder over de Haan, and hopefully we'd get a top 10 pick and come away with a skilled dman. Gustafsson could step up into the lineup for now and hopefully prove himself.

Woah, buddy. Timonen would battle it out with Streit for the #1 dman spot and Bobrovsky would be your #1 goaltender, hopefully solidifying himself as your franchise goalie.

we have poulin, nilson, and if he becomes magically healthy, then DP
and Streit defeats Timonen for the number one spot by a mile

The Islanders won't add a goalie unless it is a significant upgrade. Otherwise, they'll stick with Montoya, Poulin, DiPietro, Nilsson and whatever the hell Nabokov decides to do. Trading Moulson doesn't help the Isles one bit. We'd like to add a defenseman, but not one that could retire after this season or the one after that (and one that won't even think about waiving his NMC to the NYI). Trading de Haan? Garth Snow is not Milbury, sorry.

couldn't do it in philly behind one of the best defenses in the league. Islanders laugh at this proposal

Yeah, Kimmo isn't getting near enough love in this thread.

The Flyers aren't rebuilding, and the Isles aren't contending. What sense does this trade (particularly the inclusion of Timonen) make for either team?

I'd do it as a Flyer fan obv. But there is no way Timonen would waive to go to Islanders, I'm fairly sure he'll retire once his contract is up. This really doesn't make sense for the Islanders, they already have plenty of goaltending prospects.

Al Montoya
9-5-5 2.39 0.921 1 539 1154

Smaller sample size, but not bad for someone getting their first real crack at the NHL behind an awful defense... I dont get why people think the Islanders are in the market for goalies... THEY HAVE TOO MANY, 2 of them are legitimate 1A prospects (Poulin and Nilsson) 1 is a good backup prospect (Koskinen) and Al Montoya (if he can continue his success) is no schmuck either, Nabokov is a big quetion mark and DP is just never going to leave so.... yeah...

The Islanders need Wingers, why trade one of their better young wingers (along with a first) to continue to over-saturate a position that they are strong in? Timmonen would be nice, but hes not the type of younger player Garth is looking to bring in... Id rather use those pieces and add alot (alot, alot) to get a younger franchise type d-man
