I don't see Ballard as available as some people think because Vancouver lost Ehrhoff.

Ballard didn't play very well last year, but he could easily turn that around imo.

Filip Kuba and (to a lesser extent, since our new coach said he was excited to see him on the ice, Gonchar) are available.

Kuba for a 2012 2nd and Huselius? (I would say Kuba for a 3rd, but since Huselius' cap hit is a little over a mill more, I upped it to a 2nd)

That would be like throwing Huselius away. When healthy he's been extremely solid for Columbus.

You could say the same for Kuba. Aside from last season, one of the worst seasons of almost every Sens' careers, including Kuba) he's been a very solid 2-way Dman, much like Wis (but paid less). And there have been a lot of proposals the last couple of years with CBJ fans trying to move Huselius. I think its decent value.

Meh, I think that is as good as our defense is going to get this year. I am more worried about the goal tending the amount of soft goals last year was incredible.

Holden is pretty good. I can see Howson giving him a chance to prove himself.

you should stick to worrying about your own team.

there are far worse defenses for you to go jump on.

Maybe, but that defensive lineup makes it hard for Canada to respect the Blue Jackets.

Do you mind if you'd stop trolling? LOL. You really dont know wtf you're talking about. Way to make a retarded thread knowing nothing about the skill levels of players. I take everyone in CBJ's top 6 over Komisarek. We dont need a defenseman we need a winger. The only thing that is pathetic was your attempt to troll.

Regardless, Hannah in that lineup would make me more comfortable. I don't anticipate it happening because, as some have suggested, I expect Howson/Arniel to let Holden try and latch onto the 5-6-7 spot with Russell and Clitsome.

Wisniewski, Tyutin, Methot, and Martinek are all good top-4 defensemen. The blueline only seems unimpressive because we have absolutely no top-pairing guys. And those sorts aren't exactly cheap and quick to acquire.

This is therefore a conversation that will only lead to heartache and flames. It would be best to move on.
Sounds like you're in need of a Bouwmeester!

And to those saying Spacek, that boat has sailed. Unless we're somehow acquiring someone who would cost more than 6mil, there's no reason to move him right now.

Huselius-for-Kuba was a popular swap idea until we traded Voracek. Expecting us to add mid-to-high draft picks is just crazy.

We'd actually probably consider taking him, but it'd be difficult to get a equitable deal going. And given that Regehr now plays for Buffalo, I'd be surprised if Calgary actually wants to send him anywhere.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Agreed on Holden. He actually plays similarly to Martinek, IMO. Would like to go after Hannan, but with Juice out, it seems Hoswon's attention has shifted to replacing him.

And to the OP, Russell is listed twice.

Actual lineup with that would be:

Hannan-Wisniewski
Tyutin-Martinek
Methot-Clitsome
Russell

Methot can't play on the right side very well. And Clitsome's already doing much better than Russell.

I wouldn't mind adding Hannan, but I don't think he's the difference between a productive Jackets season and doomed oblivion.

Brassard for Bogosian, maybe with additions on either side.

Hannan would be a good addition, Brent Sopel would also provide some cheap depth.

Chris Campoli is out there as well, although I would guess that with Russell and Wiz most would prefer to see a more hard-nosed defenseman added to the fold.

No Bogosian. Not at his current inflated trade value.

He's barely a bottom pairing defenseman (if that), can't see him helping much. If Columbus actually wanted him, conditional 7th and he's yours. Otherwise, let him burn MLSEs money in the AHL. The 7th would be contingent on Columbus re-signing him to a deal worse than he's currently on.

Komisarek is a better defenseman, but on a longer contract at higher cap hit. Columbus fans have any interest in him?

Yeah, I should start worrying about Pittsburgh's defense? Columbus' "top 4" would be lucky to play on our third pair

Letang - Orpik
Martin - Michalek
Engelland - Lovejoy
Niskanen

And not to mention Simon Despres. Yeah, nothing to worry about.
