Flyers' 2011-12 Pre-Season (post #43) and Regular Season Schedules (post #21)

While we're "speculating" about the Winter Classic, there are games already showing up on the schedule and tickets waiting to be bought.

http://www.johnlabattcentre.com/calendar/092011-22.html

Preseason schedule
Red Wings vs. Flyers in London, Ont., Sept. 22 (tix on sale May 28)

http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?...id=DL|PHI|home

Quote:
The Philadelphia Flyers will make their annual preseason trek to their “home away from home” and meet the Detroit Red Wings at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario, on Thursday, September 22 at 7 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale on Saturday, May 28 at noon exclusively through johnlabattcentre.com, by phone at 1-866-455-2849 or in person at the John Labatt Centre box office. Fans are invited to a “Motown Block Party” outside the John Labatt Centre commencing at noon, when the NHL Preseason tickets go on sale on Saturday, May 28.

“London truly is our home away from home," said Comcast-Spectacor President and Global Spectrum Chairman Peter Luukko. “The fan support here in London for the Flyers is outstanding. The John Labatt Centre is a fantastic hockey arena that our players enjoy visiting. To be playing the Detroit Red Wings here in London is a dream match-up for hockey fans in Southwestern Ontario and Eastern Michigan. It’s going to be a terrific night of hockey in the City of London.”

If it were the real Flyers and the real Wings in London, it would be fantastic, and a brilliant marketing move. Both teams have a ton of support in the area.

However, that game is usually the last game for all the players who will be returning to juniors, with a couple of NHL'ers on the ice and a bunch of AHL'ers. All for the low, low cost of about $75 a seat.

Hm. I'll add that to the list of Things I'd Rather Not Pay For.

Holy ****. Anyone who spends that kind of money to see a bunch of nobodies or someday-might-be-somebodies has rocks in their head. Not to mention, I refuse to give the JLC a damn penny for the way they and the bleeping Knights treat visiting fans.

And Murph, luckily for you, I understand the Uecker reference.

new season

Will the team's jerseys be any different from what they were last season? In general, will the Rbk Edge jersey design change league-wide? Will the NHL logo/crest patch still be at the neck (despite alot of Vancouver players and Briere and Richards on the Flyers cutting the points off the crest for comfort)--or will it be on the tail hem? Will the Reebok wordmark appear on the jersey, or will the vector logo remain at the back above the nameplate?

reebok is reporting no jersey changes for the flyers next season, but they're sure to get a new special/third jersey for the winter classic if the rumors of their participation are true.

Funny how most teams started trending back to traditional designs.

They always put our team in these home openers that seem like it would just piss them off. Let's hope we take their souls starting Oct. 6th.

Didn't it happen with Pittsburgh, too? Or am I thinking of them opening here this past season, with the division banner?

I was thinking not too long ago that the last thing I want to see is the Flyers being the visitors to watch the SC banner go up. Richards needs to take his gin bottle out of his locker, turn it into a Molotov cocktail and light up the banner as they are raising it.

Seriously, can a team just say, "Look, you guys have fun applauding yourselves. Come and get us when the ceremony is over." ?

Home opener versus Vancouver. Strange.

Tough 4 games to start the season.

*10 of 13 December games are on the road
*Two long breaks: 5 days off (Nov 27-Dec 1) and 6 days off (Jan 25-30)

I'm happy about our season opener. I want to wash that bitter taste out of my mouth from that playoff sweep. Have to ruin their banner night.

The NHL's "Schedule Highlights" does not include the Winter Classic:
