I personally think that Montreal should of went with more experience and a better track record at the NHL level, Jacques Martin is a very passive, emotionless and easy going coach, we need someone to light a fire under the behinds of Kostitsyn and others to make sure they perform.
Those are very experienced assistant coaches. Ladouceur has been behind an NHL bench for 9 years. Cunneyworth is a bit more "green", as he only has two years as experience as an NHL assistant coach. But I think they're good choices. I don't think an ex-head coach would have fit in. I could be wrong but I think they're both very passionate guys, and they know our young players.

I want the Stanley Cup in Montreal!!!
Well, I didn't watch Hamilton games last season, and I don't know how well Cunneyworth and Ladouceur coach, but they were dressing tough guys over skilled players back there, and were pretty tough players themselves in their times. So maybe that's what the team needed ?

Did you ever see Cunneyworth play? There was hardly a more intense player when he played.
This makes perfect sense. They know the youngsters on the team the best and they've practicing the exact same style in Hamilton for the past year. It will be an easy transition for them and for all the players involved.
He is overated because he still needs to prove that he can be a good head coach somewhere else than a small Canadian University. People are crying because he's gone. I am more pissed off by the habs letting go Boucher to another organization.
How were we supposed to keep him? Can Martin after he takes us to the Conf Championships?

I like both randys fine enough, but I don't think assistant coaches or even coaches are something to stress out about.
Me neither. Hell, I think I could coach the Habs myself.. It doesn't really look that hard.. Walking behind the bench taking notes. The Jack Adams doesn't mean anything. Why did they even fire Carbo, who cares? The coach is only there to go bowling with the players.
I think we should be more concerned about our roster and who is making those decisions than who is behind the bench.
I believe Timmins is the absolute best in his position and I think PG has shown to this point, he's not too shabby either. If PG has faith in Martin and martin in turn has faith in the 2 Randys. I can't really dispute that.
A coach can only go as far as his players can take him and I would probably say with injuries included, JM has probably overachieved with this hockey club to this point. It's hard to imagine someone else doing a better job tbh.

I love strawman arguments. I'm not claiming I could do the same job, but most experienced NHL coaches are pretty good at what they do, different motivations ect, but if you don't have the team, you don't have the team.
They lose for years then all the sudden they win and the old fairy tale lines about how he adjusted and figured out how to win come out. It's funny as hell tbh. Take CJ this year, everyone wanted him fired. Good thing fans don't get a say in the matter, isn't it?
I REALLY like the idea that Randy is gonna be the guy talking to our offense with young guys like Pacioretty, Desharnais, Palushaj emerging. Super happy bout that. My only concern which should be nothing is how compatible are Cunneyworth and Martin behind the bench? I suppose they are since Martin himself brought him to Hamilton in the first place. Was he the guy in charge the PP in Hamilton?
Good move. Kirk seemed like the player friendly coach that probably had a lot of personal relationships with the guys. They needed to replace him with a similar type - an ex player with a good career that understands what these guys are going through. Let Martin and Pearn be all business and tactics and let Cunneyworth be one of the guys.
