How tough is it to envision a Howard + ? = Miller trade.
Howard is from New York State. Miller is from Michigan.

Not sure how much sense it makes, capwise, roster wise, etc.
But Miller would give Detroit it's first popular, marketable star since Yzerman

No thanks. Miller is more expensive, older, and has only had one season in his 6 years as a starter that would be considered elite. I'll take my chances on Jimmy improving.

Yeah on a ****** buffalo team. Sorry but buffalo doesn't have a Zetterburg or a Datsyuk or a Lidstrom. He would thrive and put Jimmy to shame with our roster.

Also someone on the FA and Trade board from buffalo suggested Boyes for Flip + a 3rd. Thoughts?

I like it. Gives us a winger for Datsyuk and lets someone like Helm step up and Center the third since Flip hardly plays on the top two lines where i think he should be anyway.

We're not giving Detroit another one of our goalies.

Yeah zero chance. Although, how willing do you think the Sabres are in terms of shopping Pominville?

Not likely but if it's a very good center buffalo would have entertain the thought. With his contract, lack of depth at center and the depth at wing it's possible.

May be I'm missing something but how is Miller any more marketable then Datsyuk, Zetterberg or Lidstrom.

I think Miller is the last player Buffalo would want to trade. I'd love to have him, but I don't see either side making that move....yet.

Boyes is pretty intriguing, I could see him being a real impact. Not a spectacular player, but a natural finisher. Could be the difference in the way Setodouchi was for SJ.

North American. It's sad, but it's more or less true. Mind you, this is from a non-Red Wing fanatic perspective.

This is kind of how I feel about Boyes. I don't expect him to have a complete game, and I'd expect him to go through cold stretches, but I think he could be really productive on one of our wings.

While it clears the cap space, it doesn't clear the salary. Buffalo's owner is willing to spend, but maybe not to bury that much cash in the minors.

It's a good point, although i suspect Detroit would have to add so much (howard, flip, +) it wouldn't help the Sabres get under the cap

if they are trying to dump salary, presumably they want to move some of their worst contracts, so I guess we could go after Leino

In all seriousness, Stafford is pretty much the only guy that interests me there and I doubt they are looking to move him.

Only players on Detroit that I would want would be Helm or Filppula and definitively not Howard.

Speaking of marketability (or perhaps lack therof), I really wish Datsyuk (or Zetterberg, but mostly Datsyuk) would land an NHL (not NHL2K) game cover. Sigh...

boyes is like hudler, he has negative value around the league.

in both cases detroit and buffalo would be dreaming if they thought they could be traded for a player who is actually good.

if hudler is moved its for a mid round draft pick or marginal prospect

if boyes is moved its for absolutely no more then what he was moved for in feb 2011(2nd round pick)

thats it, end this silly discussion.

It'd be nice, I personally used Zetterberg instead of Kane on my NHL10 cover (Kane is the only cover athlete recently that I've disliked enough to bother replacing)

Three-way trade.

Boyes from Buffalo to Wings
Hudler + 5th rounder from Wings to 3rd team.
3rd team gives 2nd rounder to Buffalo.

The only forward on Buffalo that ingrigues me is Paul Gaustad, but he's not going anywhere
