Some of the posts in this thread honestly lead me to the conclusion that half of you are retarded. Buffalo just improved for a strong playoff run, Miller is nowhere even close to an option. It will be Boyes or another mid tier player, and they would want something that can help them now. Boyes for Hudler and a 2nd could work, same with Boyes for Filppula straight up, but that doesn't save them much cap space. We are not getting Roy, or anyone integral to their core.

Look at the Sabres center depth obviously they won't trade a guy like Derek Roy who is one of the most under-rated centers in the league. Better look at options such as Pominville, Boyes, Morrison, Hecht, Gaustad. A team like the Islanders would preferably take these players for futures like mid draft picks + prospects in order to get them to the cap floor. Miller is the best goaltender in the NHL, any Detroit fan saying they don't want him is hatinggg

Of course hes a great goalie, but I'd be fine with Howard, but im not so sure the diffirence is great enough for what we lose in cap space/trade assets. It's all ridiculous anyways though, sicne there is less than a .0001% chance Miller would be traded in this given situation. Like you said, the only way it makes sense from Buffalo's perspective is if it's a mid tier guy like Boyes/Hecht.

As a sabres fan, I don't want Hudler. Maybe Hudler from a few years ago but not based on last years stats. I didn't really get to see many wings games last year even though i've been living here the last few years but what happend to him? He had a breakout year before he left.

Buffalo's primary moves will be to bury Morrisonn and Kotalik in the minors, giving us 5 million in cap space.

If we do go the trade route, I would like to see a Filppula for Boyes trade. Although most sabre fans along with myself would like to keep him around for another year. Boyes for Hudler is kinda the equivalent of Cleary for Hecht, unless you would comfortable doing something like that.

Pominville is off the table, unless a guy like franzen is coming back in return.

Oh and thanks for Miller and Gerbe. Although you did get Howard, McCollum, Hasek for basically free and MSU's 2007 championship from us (Kennedy, Mueller, Ratchuk) so I think we're even.

Also, I'm not big on just looking at the stats, but here are some comparisons for anyone who cares

Actually Hudler, wouldn't be that bad, of a return. A consistent 30 assist guy, but we need a centers so I would rather have filppula.

I live in Buffalo and I'm a Sabres fan I'll list who they would trade obviously most of them for cap space and some of them in return for a true number one center.

Pominville - him along with a Hecht type player and a pick we'd trade for a center and I'm not talking a flippy type of center. I could also see them trading him for picks and prospect to get under the cap.

Ennis - prospect that has massive potential bound to be a Patrick Kane type player.

Gerbe - yet another prospect with massive potential bound to be a Briere type player with some grit. Both players (Ennis) could be traded along with a mid aged player for a good center but wouldn't be traded together.*

Boyes - Sabres fans are disgusted with him. Could easily see him leaving for some picks.

Hecht - he'd go in a package deal for either picks or with another player for a center.

Luke Adam - great prospect with massive potential he's gritty and can put the puck in the net. Brooks Laich - like.

Morrisonn - don't even know if I spelled his name right that's how much we care about him he'd go for picks.

Gragnani - prospect with massive potential. Extremely smart defensman that has enormous play making potential. Seems that he'll turn into an Ehrhoff type player.

Those prospects above wouldn't all go. At the most two however I realistically only see one going. However if Buffalo was approached with a type of deal such as Datsyuk for grags (with the soon departure of Lidstrom and already that of Rafalski), Gerbe and a couple picks,
*and throw Hecht in there for the hell of it they'd do it. However I know Detroit isn't interested in a trade like that*I'm just giving an example.

The following are players the Sabres will not trade

Roy - Short on center we need him.

Leino - just signed him to a multi year contract maybe at the end of his second year based on his production.

Vanek - sabres only true goal*scorer. Every team needs one. Pominville and stafford are too inconsistent.

Stafford - just signed multi year contract and erupted last year. I don't see him moving.*

Ehrhoff - obviously were not going to trade him.

Miller - this player will not go anywhere for anything. Anyone who thinks he will be traded better start looking for another goalie. Personally I'd like to see him get traded for Pekka Rinne. Buffalo's never gonna trade him especially now with the addition of Regehr and Ehrhoff. That makes him that much better and honestly Miller just had a bad year last year let up too many goals he should have saved.*

Players on the fence.

Gaustad - he's a role player. A captain like guy who doesn't back down from anything but I guess I could see the "Goose" leaving if the right trade was proposed. As a Sabres fan I love the Kaleta - Gaustad - McCormick line. Three guys that give it their all and don't back down from anything.*

Sekera/Leopold - I could see either two leaving as we have an enormous surplus on D here in Buffalo. However Sekera just signed a new contract and I know Regier (Our GM) wants Leopold here as he'll play a roll in bringing in Regehr (played together in CGY).*

Kotalik - Quite honestly I don't know why we brought him back. He's expensive and has fallen off the charts. Easily see him leaving for picks. But not sure may keep for depth.

Players not shown above (Myers, Weber, etc) aren't included because they won't be traded I just didn't feel like adding the whole team.

I still can't believe the Sabres signed Leino to a six year 4.5 million dollar contract.

Definitely going to disappoint.

LOL, I saw the topic and instantly thought maybe Buffalo saw what a goof they made paying $4.5M for 6 years to Leino and were looking to dump him ASAP...
