Haha, yeah that's a bad trade.

If Alfie goes, we better be getting one 1st rounder. The value would be better if it was simply Islanders 1st and nothing else.

But nah, Alfie has stated he doesn't want to leave, and Sens don't really want him gone either.

Do people forget he was a point per game player till last season when he was injury riddled. Alfie is a first line rw on most teams and a clutch playoff performer who would provide leadership on any team. I think he would make tavares loo great next year, but isles would have to pay the price

I don't think that deal would get you Gonchar, let alone Alfie.

It would be like the Wings trading Lidstrom for a low first. Value is way off.

As a Sens fan, it seems ... unusual agreeing with a Canucks, and especially a Ducks/Sharks (not sure which one DES is) fan, but you both are bang on, and I love the Lidstrom comparison. Alfie is the Sens' Lidstrom, and Lidstrom is the Wings' Alfie. Either would look just wrong in any other uniform, and both, despite their age, still perform as 2-way players at a very high level. As a result, both call their own shots with their teams, and it would take a ton to get Lidstrom or Alfie out of DET/OTT respectively (not that Lids is going anywhere, the Wings aren't rebuilding anytime soon).

Can we clone you two, and overwrite all other posters on HF who just don't get it?

The Sens get bent over here. I'd love to see Alfie on Tavares' wing but its gonna take more than that to get him

Gotta think a little bit man..

But seriously...It was a good trade. Lacks a little value on the Islanders side. You'd hate for them to give up a possible second round pick for the Ottawa Senators most popular and distinguished player in franchise history. You're close though...maybe ask for Karlsson too?
Is that a dude you are kissing in that picture?

Come on, Alfredsson is only a year removed from his 10th straight 70+ points season (71 points in 70 games in 2009-2010). Even last year with a bad back wre he had to be shutdown as soon as the team was out of it (IMO he was playing through it for the majority of those 54 games) he still put up 35 pts in 54 games.

He is 38 now, and I am still saying if healthy he will be closer to a ppg player.

At any rate, Ottawa would not even consider moving him for anything short of a 1st and a top prospect belonging to a top flight contending team of his choice.

Alfredsson to the Islanders is a joke to begin with IMO and will never happen no matter what the return.

Good luck with Yashin there. Fool me once, shame on Yashin; fool me twice, shame on Garth Snow

Request or not I was going to close this anyway, so none needed. As a Sabres fan I can't stand Alfredsson, but even I can admit this one's an insult to him.
